Writing If you're non English speaker, do you write your stories in your mother language first?

I want to write in my mother tongue, but at the same time, I know I would then have to translate it to English to post it on ScribbleHub or RoyalRoad, so it's not really worth it. Also, I'm so used to write novels in English that I have a hard time writing in a novel-like way in French. Kinda sad.

Editing How the Heck Do You Find Motivation to Go Back and Edit Your Chapters?!

For me, it's reversed: all I do is editing my chapters again and again. There's always this or that to correct and make it better. But in the end, it's never perfect. So I edit again. One time: I rewrote a chapter 3 times, and I mean rewrote, not just some changes in paragraphs or anything. No...

    What are some fantasy monsters?

Long Title Names That Exist Commonly Nowadays

One of the main reasons behind long-ass titles is the overabundance of new light novels coming each month in Japan. When you go into a konbini or a library with hundreds or thousands of light novels, you don't have the time to read their synopsis, so you read the title and look at the cover...

Writing How much time do you spend writing a chapter?

I write approximately 1.5k words per day, so my chapters take me around 2 days to make. For the edit, it's about an hour or two at most. The time it takes me to write (at least) 1k really depends on the day, and the time I have at my disposal. I've found out that when I don't have much time, I'm...

Novels incomes with over 1M Views

Yeah, He Who Fight With Monsters makes a lot of money. I saw that one day. The guy was making daily 2.5k words chapters (before December 18th). Plus, the quality is really great.

    Finding Inspiration

You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club. (It also works with motivation.)

    How to describe/provide information

Yes. I find it the hardest. Because it heavily depends on your current mood; sometimes you want information-heavy fights, and sometimes you want fast-paced short-line fights. The most important thing, in my humble opinion, to overcome this difficulty is to try to stick to a certain style, and...

    How to describe/provide information

My advice: When describing something, ask yourself what is the most striking thing about that thing. For example, you want to describe a city. You may ask yourself: are poor neighborhoods very visible? Are the people well dressed? Distrustful of travelers perhaps? That way, you stay focused on...

Writing How would you describe your writing style?

Aaah, I know that feeling of, "Couldn't my story be better?" It haunts me every day. But don't worry too much over that: it will only ruin your day and make you feel like a shitty writer. Heh. A guy who can't even finish a chapter properly is trying to give advice. Funny.

Writing How would you describe your writing style?

Don't belittle yourself like that! Your story is good. (y)

Writing How would you describe your writing style?

I write in an Omniscient Narrator kind of way: no single POV, descriptions are always thorough, details fill the story with 50% useless information, and chapters are most likely too long. It can be confusing, heavy, and most certainly boring, but it is the way I have chosen.

Thinking up the way your characters fight: fighting styles

In my story, the protagonist is a mage in a world where mages don't fight like mages in D&D. He is not a fighter. The best he can do is bash someone with his staff, but give him time, and he will make runes capable of melting your skin. His fighting technique would be: "Dangers ahead, let's flee!"

    Is fanservice bad?

Response to the title: No. Fan service isn't inherently bad. It's the way it is done that determines whether people will like it or not. I'm a bit too lazy to develop, so I will leave it at that until someone wants me to.

When you're not actively working on your next chapter...

Well, for my story, I have the advantage of it being a long journey, so any scene can potentially be included. But even then, sometimes I have an urge to write, like, RIGHT NOW, and it can be anything; for example, the story I'm writing right now is the result of one of those sessions of intense...

Have you ever deleted your own story?

I probably wouldn't entirely delete a story, but I have no qualms against abandoning one. After all, if a story you write becomes boring, stressful, or simply too complex for you, don't force yourself. You are the only master onboard, and if you don't appreciate what you do, who will?
