If people can comment on reviews doesn't that potentially help readers too? I know on web novel if I check out a novel I check the controversial reviews and then also check the comments by other readers on those reviews to get what is in my opinion a much better idea about a particular novel...

I would probably ask the author first. Then if they deny report it to the platform. Just be prepared that both might deny at which point unless you want to go legal, which for most web novel authors isn't viable, you're pretty much at the end of your rope. We aren't a multinational corporation...
