I wrote a story as an author but never read it as a reader

I've never seen anyone else who does this but kind of loved the system used by the late James M. Ward - write for four hours over a ten hour period in any combination. Do NOT look at any of it as you write, just write. The next day, you start by reading everything you wrote the day before then...

I wrote a story as an author but never read it as a reader

As an aside, I find a good (though clumsy) editing tool is an AI reader. Just learned this on some stuff being adapted to PocketFM....

    Crossovers on Scribble Hub???

Have never done one but might be open to it, at least in passing. Actually, if I ever get back to Strange Awakening, Book Two, at some point Kelly will wind up bouncing around a few worlds after an enemy uses an experimental weapon on her so might have a good excuse for one.

What makes a good story on this website?

Ah wait - we all missed the simplest answer to the question: What makes a good story on this site? The same thing that makes a bad story or most of the mediocre stories on this site (most - the rest are made by The Butler): Writers. :s_tongue:

    too many ideas

Heh. I think it was in my blood all along. Dad's dad was a storyteller in every sense of the word (dad never realized how many of his stories were untrue until his older sister showed him the joke book he got one of them from - but he always enjoyed just listening to him tell stories, even if...

I wrote a story as an author but never read it as a reader

Usually, I reread everything as I upload it and (hopefully) catch the major issues then. Never really liked rereading my own stuff until the first time I had something published - then had fun comparing the final text to the rough draft (found two of the three best and two of the three worst...

Your MC(s) get transported into the real world. How would they interact with you? Considering you made them.

Wow. If Kelly (Strange Awakening) remained in a woman's body, he'd be pretty pissed unless the Sparrow powers came with him (if he was back in his original body he'd figure all of Strange Awakening was just a dream he had in the ICU, recovering from a gunshot and not really care beyond that)...

    too many ideas

Nope One that actually got feedback HAD my focus until two others that might make actual money stepped up... but I have about ten ongoing stories, five of them posted online in varying lengths, scattered around here.

Why a Story Needs a Primary Antagonist (and how to find them)

Yes, but the environment is the Primary Antagonist, not the "others along the way" - that was my point. Maybe your video needs a little reworking then - you and I are pretty much arguing the same point, but I did not realize that until right here, and did listen to the video Only had two reach...

Writing How to write a god protagonist

Rick Riordan did a decent job of this with his Percy Jackson novels - the characters are demigods, possibly gods one day, but just learning their powers and how their world works. I had considered writing a story like that myself (but with an adult who discovers he's a reincarnation of...

    Want feedbacks from an amateur?

Also view counts ALWAYS drop after Ch1 - usually there's a slow, steady decline until you get 20 chapters posted, then a bump up across the board, and another decline until 50 (or so I hear - have not exactly hit that yet ... sort of but not really ... with one) and the biggest if you hit 100...

    Standalone short stories

Because you can't legally give them away. An exchange of money is always required. Union rules, unfortunately.

What makes a good story on this website?

A sense of humor and an interesting hook. Also (and this makes me a complete 180 from most members of this site) something that is either finished or only has about 20 or so chapters so that I might be able to catch up at some point.

Why a Story Needs a Primary Antagonist (and how to find them)

The background is not as distracting, but the music is - and you sound a bit more laid back than usual, almost tranquilized here... One of my stories relies on a bit of misdirection - the apparent primary antagonist is just an agent of another, who, in turn is the pawn of a third (who is trying...

So… does your protagonist want to be the best?

Depends on which one. Jack Diamond just wants to make a living. Best, worst, doesn't matter - if he can get by, and keep Carol, he's happy. Kelly Pierce... kind of wants to be the best in their field (advertising) and wants to be good (most of the time) but maybe not THE best. Just good...

What's the scariest book you've ever read?

When you realize "Frankenstein - Or the Modern Prometheus" was written over two years, and published shortly after the author turned 19, it's fairly impressive as a work of literature, but it really only has about four or five genuinely scary moments (unless you can really empathize with The...

    Synopsis update.

The name in bold seems to appear out of nowhere - should it be mentioned before, omitted, or is it supposed to be Caleon? And where do these "demons" come from - are they the servants of the angels who have claimed their own worlds, or have they been there all along? The line about Earth may...
