What is the best way to check for grammar? Also is using a grammar checker against the rules?

I finished the prologue! I tweaked it a bit so it isn't a gender bender, because I didn't feel like I could find the inspiration or motivation to write about one of those, I decided that if I was gonna write I would write something I would read and enjoy. I hope you check it out and enjoy it!
