Writers block and just a mental wall

I finally broke partially through a two week old wall today on two of mine. Though I still won't break all the way through until either PocketFM activates my contract (finally) or admits they have no intention to (and then the stories come back here).

    Gods of Light

Well, Loki is a trickster god and the Norse god of fire (despite being the child of the king of the frost giants), so a light-based trickster god is not without precedent. Heck, to some degree, Apollo can be seen as one.

A Villain Who Doesn’t Want Redemption- The Riddle Rewritten

You are probably right - the only link is both were "Wizard Supremacists" (though Voldemort was more "Voldemort Supremacist" I guess) - that was just the impression I had from seeing Fantastic Beasts and then reading chatter about the other material in that sequence.

A Villain Who Doesn’t Want Redemption- The Riddle Rewritten

If I understand correctly (never read those books and only saw the first movie), he became what he was due to the influence of Grindelwald - who WAS "Evil for Evil's Sake" (more an "anti-muggle racist" from what I gather, than anything else).

Writing How Important is Description in your Writing?

In Strange Awakening, I had a need to have the MC describe ... well, he's just trying to come to grips with the fact that, instead of bleeding out in an alley, he's now a woman who apparently lived most of the same life he did... But most of my MCs have a general size, hair and eye color, and...

Writing Prompt High risk, high reward

In a medieval world based on history, since Pin is not a noble, he might be overjoyed to be rid of a useless daughter, actually... Sons were valuable - they could work the fields, might be able to become knights. Daughters? The best you could hope for was that a noble would take them on as a...

A Villain Who Doesn’t Want Redemption- The Riddle Rewritten

While there is a definite (though perhaps small?) market for Evil Hero stories, two things to keep in mind here: 1) You might be better served with a completely original character rather than fanfiction, as, in this case, familiarity may work AGAINST you as a writer/creator. 2) If the villain...

    Genuine Honest Feedback

Yep - a more accurate description than "artificial intelligence" - it models "stuff" based on an expanding understanding of language.

Writing How Important is Description in your Writing?

Not really. I mean, how much do we know about Frodo's appearance, or Jean Valjean's, or most of the Musketeers, or the kids in the Chronicles of Narnia ? Generally you only have a "type" (Heroic, handicapped, hobbit, vampire, kid) and one or two physical traits for an MC in a LOT of stories...

Difference of the Chinese and Korean Cultivation

Interesting - I always used J-names for everything until I got into role-playing games at age 13 and was forced to branch out (as a DM/GM/CM/Keeper)... Though most of the K and J novels with Cultivation that I've encountered either use a mix of Indian and Chinese names and terminology...

But less likely to be confused with a Neck-Romancer....

    Single POV or multiple POV?

I prefer it be consistent, either way. Recall one story (a "free" book on Kindle that made me almost want a refund despite being free) that went from third person narration when dealing with most of the cast to first person narrative when dealing with one of the two (I think ... it wasn't...

    Story idea thoughts.

For some reason my first thought was Sergio Aragone's "Groo the Wanderer" but he's more of a traditional barbarian than a post apoc one.

    Word sizes

Try a thesaurus. Or do you mean the font sizes? For that, it depends on what kind of device you are using (and you might just need to switch to "Dark Mode" if you are only having trouble reading this site)

Why do male harems dominate the genre while yuri harems are so rare?

OH, then maybe he does know what he's talking about... :devilish:

What is your favourite anime op and ed?

Lost track of which ones I have and haven't seen or in what order. The second of the "Fate (something/something)" series I saw had what felt at the time to be one of the best openings ever, but I can't recall it now... ugh... Haven't seen a best ending that I can think of at the moment...

Writing How Important is Description in your Writing?

I've had characters in stories for whom that was literally true (well, one drew a gun... at a sword fight... but still... and yea, I think I was seven when I created him... but I did have a character in a game who could turn drawings into reality, so would draw his sword with a multicolored pen...

Why do male harems dominate the genre while yuri harems are so rare?

I have to half-heartedly disagree. Books like The Beginning Place (Ursula K. LeGuin) and several classic "coming of age" stories are, to one degree or another, written around sexuality and are far from crap. Now I will admit that a majority, perhaps around 75-80%, of such books ARE crap, solely...

    A question of music.

If there is a good reason (i.e the characters attend a concert or take part in a grand ball), it would be more of a "gimmick" - and a cool one, if not overused. If just used to set the mood... well, audionovels frequently do this - sometimes it helps, sometimes it distracts.
