    Doing Word Wars

Kind of did this the one time I completed NaNoWriMo (the once-a-year challenge during "National Novel Writer's Month" - November - to write 50k words in one month). Productivity was high, but quality was ... a roller coaster.

Suppose somebody wants a manhawa level art. What's the rate?

Lowest legit price I've seen was $75. Last price I saw was $99 (USD) from a scammer.

What are some of your favorite story openings (Author's Edition)

One of the greatest openings ever is to a short story - but it's only great BECAUSE it's a short story. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I'd have to re-read it to remember which event it opens on but you're kind of left not knowing if it really happened, or if it's all in his head - or if...

Between isekai JRPG and non-jrpg isekai, which is better?

There is no "best" - there are good and bad examples of both.

    Explaining pronunciation in-universe?

I don't worry about it - unless I can make a joke like the Sun/Soon one. I KNOW people will come up with their own pronunciations anyway (and have AI readers to trip-up... er ... contend with thanks to Pocket FM.) so don't worry about it. I gave up correcting people saying "shy-muh-rah" or...

I plan on releasing a companion piece to my main story, not quite sure of how to format it.

Maybe create a second "novel" as the Companion Volume with the extra stuff, and maybe direct links in the Author's notes to anything that might be relevant in the main story?

Writing Prompt You are a sentient item that got lost/found in a hoard or someone's inventory.

I don't know how long I had been slumbering when I was awakened by that single, cryptic word: "Equip." Suddenly, I felt an odd chill on one surface, and a strange, warm, kind of fuzzy feeling on the other. I checked my sensory systems - audio was clear, echolocation functioning. Sense of touch...

Writing Trouble to start but hard to stop writing?!

Sometimes. I can get lost in the process, but not always. And sometimes it's easy to start.

Last Chapter, Epilogue and Sneak Peek. Together or Separate?

Post the sneak peak in a teaser announcement on the forums the same day you post the last chapter. Then have the final chapter, epilogue, and sneak peak each uploaded automatically, one day apart.

On the Proper Placement of Illustrations Within a Chapter

Wherever it feels appropriate - though as close to where the image is relevant as possible. OR, if doing a throwback to older, illustrated stories, have the illustrations on the page facing a new chapter, so "between" or at the start before the chapter title.

    Writing Prompt The mysterious letter.

Well, book a trip to Kings Mountain, North Carolina. If the letter is genuine, the Catawba Two Kings Resort seems like a good place to start, and, if not, the place does have a casino (though only a small one - the full one doesn't open until 2027)...

As an author, how do you feel when writing villains who commit crimes or immoral acts?

To be honest, some acts of villainy are cathartic to write. Some ... you need a long shower after, true.

    AI changes and writing

Wonder if this will affect Pocket FM's new "Co-Pilot" (suspect they'll have to change the name when/if it gets out of wide beta. unless they're licensing it already from Microsoft, then I'm kind of worried about it for other reasons), as it explicitly exists to do those things!

    Least Favorite Word?

Blame the French (Normans) for a lot of the wacky spellings in English. Until they took over the country for a while, there were no consistent spellings between communities; the French created the first English dictionaries, writing down what they thought they heard. A lot of the extra "u"s...

What battle results do you feel satisfied with?

Over the course of a story, you should see 7-9 of these surface at some point. Done well, they can all be at least equally satisfying - though it can take a lot of work to make an MC's betrayal satisfying, it should be worth it in the end.

New Author Here… Got a Weird INBOX ?

Unless they also sent either a carrot (offer of payment) or a stick (we'll kill your Saint Bernard if you don't!) with it, either ignore it or ask them to run it through the AI a few more times to get it into a form you can make sense of.

    Consistency Issue

ADHD is manageable - for some, with discipline, for most with drugs. and only fatal if you're concentrating on that cute little squirrel and don't see Truck-Kun barreling down the road...

The Song To Score Your Novel

Because I have very few sound cues in the chapter and it could probably use some.

    Consistency Issue

Used to do this all the time but haven't so much any more. Supposedly, this ability to hyperfocus is a side effect of ADHD.

Analytics Question: How steep a drop is reasonable between chapters 1-2

Unless you can find out a reason for the drop and maybe make corrections, the numbers are meaningless. Some opened the page by accident and left it up long enough to count as "read" Some bookmarked it to read when/if you hit one of their "magic numbers" (20, 50 or 100 chapters) or mark it...
