Well, maybe if you didn't use "anal" in your search request, you wouldn't come across any...? *shrugs* *^^*

Writing How to Successfully Find and Attract Your Agent

These are the current trends in popular books: Romance, Mystery/Thriller, Fantasy, and Young Adult (YA) fiction, with Nonfiction genres like Self-Help, Memoirs, and History also proving popular. Emerging genres like Climate Fiction (Cli-Fi), New Weird, and Literary Horror show promise, while...

Personally, how do you like to use prologues?

Call me coo-coo, but I like prologues that are almost completely disconnected from the book, telling a whole different story that segues smoothly into the first chapter - offering only a few tiny hints. then I can read something from Chapter One and and have an aha-moment, which gives my brain...

Writing How to Successfully Find and Attract Your Agent

Let's call this Part Two, I guess. ? ? You've glomed the industry and you know what's hot right now. Okay, does this mean you should forget about trying to pitch your non-trending book to an agent? Of course not. Just because your book doesn't "make it" as a hot title, doesn't mean it can't...

Writing How to Successfully Find and Attract Your Agent

My housemate and I started a literary agency in 1997, before closing down in 2010. In that span, we were blessed with meeting over 200 authors, reading their manuscripts (for which we required no fee), and then suggesting affordable editing if needed (if not from us, from people we knew in the...

    Is addressing the reader bad?

I'm just shocked. Adam, didn't you research who you were taking your work to...? *^^* I'm going to create a thread to help people find an agent, I think.

    Is addressing the reader bad?

I think I'll add a footnote here too: That was an incredibly stupid literary agent you took your work to.

    Is addressing the reader bad?

There's nothing at all wrong with this; you're just demonstrating a storytelling style. *^^* It might help matters, of course, if your whole work is done in the same style. I like it! It's not 4th-wall breaking; it's not even addressing the reader - it's addressing whoever it is the...

More of one or less of two?

Oh, FFS, I wondered what that "Announcement" option was all about, thanks. *^^* You have 13 followers, and yet you're a "Rising Author". That's unusual! I have 41, and only about halfway to "Rising". *^^*

More of one or less of two?

Could you explain how to do that? I'd like to acquire more readers. I use the "Profile page" to do updates, but am I missing something else?

Which type of antagonist do you prefer: the moral antagonist or the villain antagonist?

Or my personal favorite, the villain who gradually adopts the moral high ground. *^^* Nothing is more pleasing to me than a villain who learns to love in the end.

    You know what I hate?

Unless it was a longer story; I have a few where I use "Part one, Part Two" etc.

    You know what I hate?

If it's anthologies, like some of mine are, it's just the title. *^^*

    Writing How to gauge engagement?

Someone mentioned to me recently not to put too much stock into the page views. Those page views are mostly from results of search engine requests. *^^* The reads and the repeat-visitors are the ones you're after. Seems like you're doing well with those already!
