Everything felt so distant and like a summary of a news article rather than a story. And he kept repeating the character's actions/adverbs too. Like, I just searched it, and one chapter had the word "smirked" sixty-three times.

One of the guys I knew kept asking me to read his novel, and, by God, it was one of the worst fictions I've read in recent years. And by worst, I don't mean the plot was bad or that the guy didn't know English properly. It's just... the way he 'wrote' was absolute dog poop.

Yeah most Indian parents abroad would dislike having to marry someone from another country especially the more religious/traditional ones.
