I never thought about it, but this thread satisfied my curiosity.

1. Hardest thing about writing fight scenes is avoiding too much repetition, b/c no matter how awesome fight scenes are, they get boring really fast if it just goes about it in the same way. I try my best to change things up a bit in my fight scenes. 2. Everything that the posters above me...

Hmmmmm, let's see. There's: 1. Sadie in the climax of Stephen King's 11/22/63, which absolutely crushed me. 2. The climax in Harlan Coben's Home, where Patrick attempts to kill himself in front of his mother. 3. Misuzu when she dies at the end of the Air anime film.

The exploratory discovery aspect of it and making connections that build things up throughout the story and tie things up near the end of the story.

6. Don't think about the ending from the beginning and let the story flow until the end. This gives me ample opportunity to explore the possibilities as I'm writing and lets the story unfold in a natural unforced way.

Since I write first and edit/revise later every chapter without referring to an outline, it's keeping the details straight. Sometimes I'm reviewing an earlier chapter for editing mistakes but then find that the details don't align or there's even a blatant contradiction, at which point I kick...
