@Discount_Blade Eventually I posted on Craigslist looking for day laborer and got some work on a refinishing construction site at a billionaires condo.
That sounds so typical I could cry XDD. I ended up getting lucky and a guy had me do some random plumbing work for him since I mentioned I knew my way around pipes. (I'm not licensed but I can do a fair bit if needed). Was outside a library washing my face in the water fountain that nobody used (for some reason).
The dollar billionaire and one of the most mysterious bankers in Russia asks the US President to grant him citizenship and protect him from Russian bandits and authorities. At the same time, he tells how he robbed the banking system in Russia and participated in various scams. The former...

This is the guy who was refinishing the condo How I got tangled into that. Just homeless, posting on Craigslist for a job, get work with a Russian banker that scammed billions.
Ah. 90's Ex-Soviet. Say no more. Most Russian gangsters (or their wannabe offshoots) in NY are ex-soviets or their children. Anybody Russian who came to the US in the 90's is guaranteed an ex-convict or something similar. Guaranteed. And if they aren't, than they are the relative of the crook who came.
Same, @Nahrenne & @Queenfisher, I'm just a small town girl
Largest city near me is Knoxville with around 200k population.
Though I did go to Dragon Con once, in Atlanta, Georgia, dear god was I scared out of my wits, so many people. I ended up just stragically hopping from empty space to empty space as I couldn't stay in the crowds for long.
That place was nice though. 37th floor in century city. Same building that Matthew Perry’s 35million condo was in. But Mathew Perry’s is a full floor, the guy I was working for only had a half floor penthouse.
@Freesia.Cutepearl Sounds like Tennessee. I went to Memphis once. Was in a neighborhood called Orange Mound visiting the family of some friends when I lived in North Carolina for two years. Damn I miss Durham....
@Freesia.Cutepearl I grew up in the forests of the Catskills mountains. The nearest town had a population of 800. I’m not sure how much smaller town you can get. Went to college, got a degree, and somehow ended up in that mess
College is a scam. Nuff said. Been there and still am. I'm basically killing time now since I have some money left over from previous grants and I've finished my main classes/degrees. I don't expect to get rich though. History-related professions basically mean I'm headed for teaching or museum work.
I spent 3 days teaching Creative Writing because of my minor and hell no. I had to leave before the end of the 3rd day because it took all the self-control I had not to attack this one obnoxious dude. And than there was this one woman who wouldn't shut up complaining about everything.
You are right @Discount_Blade - though I've not wandered far from East TN.
Also sorry @Nahrenne ...I wonder if that's why my brain chose that phrase, I forgot all about it till you mentioned it. Took a sec to realize.
