Change my mind.

I don't think he was "wrong" for trying to get rid of the filth of the world, I think he was wrong for enjoying it and killing innocent people in the process.
he wanted the thrill of the hunt, the game of cat and mouse with L, not to change the world.

Another point that I don't remember, didn't Light kill certain kinds of criminal in the beginning? Like, he didn't just kill everyone, but only those with particularly heavy crimes or something. I don't remember the criterias he used in the beginning.

first he killed people who appeared on TV for like kidnapping children or murdering, then he started killing everyone who was in prison.
there's a lot of innocent people in prison, even more in Japan.

He only killed criminals and those who opposed him.

@SailusGebel Yeah, he started out in the right way. But later on in the story, we kinda get the hint that now it was like a crime: you get a heart attack. Some scenes showed that there was a big change going on in society. It was never expanded on, but I say that even after his death, things would never be the same.

:blob_neutral: It is not perspectivism. Perspectivism is limited to perception, but makes no statements on its own. The moment you argue about right or wrong, it is relativism.

I remember that he eventually started killing innocents, I mean, he killed some cops who were investigating him. What I meant that in the beginning, like the very beginning, you can kinda agree with him. Perhaps not with the means, but he wanted to do good. But his goals quickly changed, and you can no longer agree with him.

yep yep. the only way I can see you agreeing with him is if you didn't understand the story or you're 3 steps away from appearing on the news

I smell a joke about politicians in the air, but I can't quite grasp it. Can anybody do it for me?

When you are the law, whoever opposes you is a criminal. It's that simple.

Nobody is going to talk about Misa. Poor girl :<

but the point is really to discuss him and his views. it's not just "he's wrong/right, end of conversation" and more like "what does he represent and what would you do with a Death Note?"

That is not tyranny, that is reality.
