then I grew up and rewatched (and finished) the anime and finally understood.
Light's morals are twisted, he is right in a way, but his method and targets, are wrong.
in the mind of a teenager who thinks that it's Him vs. The World, the idea of having that power and reconstructing the world in my image made so much sense rather than stopping him.

Edginess, I think. I used to belive I never went through the edgy phase, but clearly I was wrong if I thought Light was justified in some ways.

it's not edginess, it's just being a teenager and not having that life experience that makes you see that the world is not as simple as you thought

Ugh, I'm cringing hard right now because I remember writing an essay on why he was right.

@dummycake That's what edginess results in, I think. Lack of experience plus the sort of wanting to break the norms to rebel.

Light is the ultimate embodiment of punishing those who are seen as wrong, those that think that crimes are unforgivable and deserve punishment, he is the most genocidal and (self) righteous judge to ever exist. At least that's from what I know about the show.

Yet L still took a big L, huehuehuehue.

Light was simply an egotistic fuck, and deserved the end he got.

In my eyes, both were bad, because the moment you go to the extremes, no matter on which side of the spectrum, you lost the plot.

I don't remember L being extreme.

Extreme depends on what you see as average, it's a matter of subjectivity, from what I see Corty is extreme against those that act in her eyes amoral.

After learning the fact that shinigami exists and still continues playing along with Light, it is the extreme side of following the book and the law to the letter.

Sorry, no. Light, even if you were brainwashed, off to the asylum with you. You are going to be locked up. Case closed, now let's destroy these books and get it done with.

@Corty Weren't the books indestructible? It's been so long since I read the manga, that I don't remember anything.

:blob_neutral: Too much relativism here.

Seeing extremes as good or bad is too a matter of perspective because most see their own extreme as the average, thus all others are extreme, I honestly don't know how you can't be extreme .

if I'm not mistaken, if the book is destroyed he dies

It's actual perspectivism because relativism is more limited and from my knowledge not applicable in this situation.

@SailusGebel It Could have been; it was also a long time for me to read it. :blob_no:
