I am planning on releasing a fake bonus chapter for my story. Now, if I were releasing a real bonus chapter that would set my schedule back. Instead, I will be asking the AI I use to beta read and sanity check my chapters before I give them to my real editor to do something I otherwise forbid it to do: try to write original prose in my style.
So, my full process:
First I told Claude my plan. Being a sycophantic clanker, it was incredibly enthusiastic about being the butt of the joke.
Then I asked it to write up three proposed outlines for chapters that it could write. As in, the plot of the chapter and how it would lean HARD into AIisms so as to make the chapter into self parody instead of merely aggressively mid. I picked the one I found most appealing and will be posting that one next Wednesday while claiming that I was trying out something new to see if I could crank up my output.
I will include an explicit disclaimer that it was just a joke for April fools day at the end. Frankly I found what Claude cooked up to be delightful. Not good, but delightful. It took less than an hour of playing with prompts and negotiating with the AI to get something I found fun enough to share. I can definitely see the appeal of cranking out a hundred chapters of ai slop. This was way easier than having standards and putting in effort.
What do you think? Any other ideas for fun things a writer might do for April Fools Day?
