Should I post my sequel in the same series as my finished story?

I just finished my 60k word story a couple of weeks ago, and I'm going to start posting the standalone sequel soon. I've noticed that what tends to do best on Scribblehub is loooooong stuff, even when it's not necessarily one long story. Should I rename my story to the name of the series and then attach the next book on to it with the description of which book a chapter belongs to in the title of the chapter?
So that the series of books I write in this fantasy world all appear as one long story on Scribblehub?
(Like Crown and Armour - Chapter 1 - Betrothed to the Enemy)

Yeah - if my experiment with the Jack Diamond stuff (the second is not getting as much attention as the first ... partly because it stalled at 9 chapters but still) means anything, you really do need to keep them together unless they're very different or you can post a lot of chapters of the sequel at once.

Good to know, thank you for your insight!

Well, it's not that SH hates short stories, it's just that short stories don't provide enough visibility support for potential readers to see them.

Unlike RR, which relies on recommendation algorithms, RR relies more on visibility to promote fiction.

This means your fiction must be posted regularly on the latest update page so that potential readers can find it.

Alternatively, you can actually utilize appropriate tags to increase the accessibility of your fiction and make it easier for readers to reach it.

The problem is, your fiction isn't alone; even with tags, your fiction will be ranked. Fiction with few total views will end up on the last page of searches based on tags. This makes your fiction less accessible.

Therefore, releasing fiction regularly is a common strategy to increase visibility. And a short story doesn't support regular updates.

Haha I don't know if I'd call 60k words a short story, but I guess by SH standards it is. So you also think I should add the sequel to the same story?

Put them together. Never, ever, anything else! View numbers are essential! The more, the better, as the idea is always, if many people read it, it must be good.

More about your fiction packaging and release strategy. Don't release long chapters (2000-3000 words per chapter). Release short chapters (1000-1500 words per chapter).

By releasing long chapters, you only get 20-30 chapters. Compare that to releasing short chapters, you get 40-60 chapters.

The average SH user is interested in reading fiction that has at least tens of chapters. With a total of 40-60 chapters, it is considered standard and worth reading.

Assuming you release 2 chapters per week, you can release the fiction for 20-30 weeks or around a half year.

With this trick, your fiction will get a better increase in visibility.

Unlike everyone else, I say, yeah, do it. Also, don't forget to set your settings after posting. People can then discover books that are related to each other. Go to your book, edit, then under the misc tab:

I'd post a new story, but also add a new chapter to your old story and directly link to the new story, so anyone who is reading just needs to open the new chapter on the old work and click the link, which will lead to minimal loss of readership. Anyone reading your old story will automatically continue with the sequel if they simply click on the link.

It's a visibility thing, so having regular updates will help with visibility. Don't post all of your chapters at once, though. Space out those posts to let more readers get a chance to see it in the updates on the front page.
