  • Hi everyone!
I’m currently working on a dark fantasy thriller with heavy action and mystery.

    I wanted to ask:
Do you prefer a silent, ruthless protagonist whose past is revealed slowly,
or a character whose emotions are visible from the start?

Also, how much mystery is “too much” before it becomes confusing?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

I prefer you just write what you are good at. Don't let readers dictate all the things you do.

My protagonist is both ruthless and easy to understand, yet his past remains the biggest mysteries in the book, that keep my readers curious.

There are also a few more mysteries, some I haven't explain even after a hundred chapters and some being a must to explain to continue the story.

My opinion is, mysteries shouldn't be too much or readers lose track of what they're reading.

Thanks for the insights! I agree—writing what I’m best at matters most, and mystery should intrigue rather than confuse. I’m aiming for a balance where the protagonist is clear in the present, while their past unfolds gradually. Really appreciate everyone sharing their thoughts!
