Dedications. Do you include them?

As the topic name suggests.
Do any of you, my fellow authors, take the time to include a dedications page anywhere in your releases?
If so, when, and how, do you go about releasing them?
Is it an author's note at the start of the story? Or maybe its own chapter segment?
I'm genuinely curious how some of you go about it.

LOL.

Most of the authors here wouldn't want their stuff seen by their own mothers and sisters. One "author" in ten thousand uses his or her own name here. But they're going to dedicate their magnum opus to some esteemed benefactor? By name?! For a few dozen complete strangers to see? I can just imagine the honored recipient's reaction, should he or she ever stumble upon it.

"Gee. How sweet. Thanks for the honor. Thanks a big fat bunch!"

Sheesh.

Why don't we all tack trite epigraphs to the head of our screeds while we're at it.

Probably not here, I do have one planned when i finish my final draft (No where close yet) but that's only for the self-published and completed version of my book. I don't think hubbers would be too thrilled being called out on random sites lol

hmm... You can always mention it in the description or the synopsis. And if it's a chapter, then an author note at the end or start does the job.

I would say that I don't, but there was this one chapter where I included a link to a song by an anonymous friend and the canceled project I worked on with her. It might count, but that depends on your definition. At any rate, I put it at the end of the chapter in an author's note, with the TMI being in a spoiler button for anyone who cared to read into it.

On one story that I had to remove from this site, I did include a dedication. I think I had it in an author's note. The story had been kicking around in my head for a while, but the death of writer James Ward inspired me to write it and dedicate it to him and the others who were responsible for most of the early work on Dungeons and Dragons and a few other games but have since passed.

I only added the dedication to the physical release. No point prior really if that is your intention. Though if you wish to dedicate it to someone, there's no reason not to.
