This is the second Spambot I found today, they always complement you and then if you reply they will always try to get you talk to them on a second site, mostly on Discord or something. I Haven't posted a story in a hot minute but these spambots always target less popular stories to try and get engagement to try and scam you. This apparently has been an issue on AO3 where they lure people to another site talking about make comics or illustrations for a fan's fic only to get nothing or a AI generated art. NEVER TAKE IT TO A SECOND SITE.
Stay safe out there.

I've heard this so many times lately, yet I have never seen one myself. :blob_popcorn_two:

Should I feel somehow offended, that my stories aren't even good enough for a bot to comment on? :blob_cookie:

Routinely dealt with this kind of scam on the SCP wiki, there's a few other good tells if they try and conect via discord:
- The accounts are typically a name with 4 numbers
- Accounts will be made recently
- They typically compliment art/pfps and ask 'where you got it'

I have already attracted one since migrating here, so I must be doing something right

I've got a name and three numbers.
My account has been made recently.
I like your profile picture.

And I can't seem to solve this captcha.

Oh dang, I'm a bot.

I hate to break it to you, and theKillingAlice...
they are said, to always home in on the writers that are not that popular. Not the big stars.
I think the psychology of this grift. is that if you're getting going, but haven't made it yet?
you'll fall for the praise.

A "big" experienced writer would both know better, and not fall for their scam art.
its an INSULT to get targeted.
Channel that controlled rage, and transmutate said rage into fuel...
that makes your grubby little fingers work your grubby little keyboard an extra hour a day.

that is all, thank you for your attention to this matter.

It's what you think, but they're going after everyone.

I'm getting a LOT of these kinds of messages as well. Not that I am a "star," but I got a couple of readers already.

I just think they target random stories.

It's not targeted though, it's random
They're not being careful, it's just a numbers game

Also idk why you threw shade at the same time, I am an experienced writer lmao

you're probably right. But if I choose to hate them for a perceived "making it personal" sleight, allowing me to deceive myself into action, would you. LMAO

didn't mean it like that. I throw self deprecating humor into my own mix all the time. sorry I caught you in my flush. I'm sure you're going to be a big star one day, now you go out there and knock 'em dead, kid. Bit I *was* told or saw it mentioned more than once, that they target the less popular writers. That's not technically me throwing that shade, I didn't grow that tree. I just parrot the wisdom. Of course now... you have taught me the error my ways...

"Attention! When the art scammers were going after our scrubs, like me? It was tolerable. They're not! They're going after some huge megastars, and that's not going to fly! I demand action, now! We must protect the reputations, of these big important writers!"

Maybe now? We'll get some action. Thanks, Queerious. (and welcome to SH)
