Anyone ever launch the idea of coordination amongst authors here?

I'll say this.
those writing cvabals? Are just bullies, pure and simple.
when you're young in school, and you're getting beat up by a bully.
you can take it? or you can fight back.
if you're gonna get beat up every day anyways, why not get beat up *after* you sucker punch them and kick them in the nuts.
maybe you get smacked up, but hey, its happening anyways.
you run the "risk" of they get tired of getting sucker punched, kicked where it hurts, pushed down the stairs, etc.

but I know this. "being the bigger man", all that (well intention-ed, granted) advice?
does, not, work.

anyone that played sports, knows this is true.
if the ref didn't see it, its legal.
if the other team is going to take cheap shots?
you do nothing, and they'll take your *stars* out of the game.
regardless of your personal ethics, you have no choice.
you send the goon squad in, to get them. They understand, *nothing* else.

lets analyze the situation.
the RR mods? Have decided, time and again. Its perfectly legal!
what can *anyone* say?
"Hey! You're doing what we do! No fair!"
*Pffft*

How big are these so called cabal/guilds, anyways.
they put 50 bully .5 reviewers on the field?
we'll put a hundred and fifty out.
they got 12 authors all with same genre coordinated launch?
we'll do two dozen at the same thing.

those are the rules.
they do it? because it works.
why shouldn't we benefit, like they do.
I bet we could field *more* (bigger team) than any of them can.

my theory, in any conflict.
I'll play by the rules.
but if that's how the games played?
Thanks for showing me what the real rules are.

I don't see the ethical problem.
I say, give them a taste of their own medicine.

or, maybe you like getting wedgies at school every day, maybe its fun.
but if you don;t like it?
did you ever realize... that a *group*, say.. the chess club?
you CAN all go out, and give a bully a wedgie.

we all know it shouldn't be allowed.
but? it is.
I don't understand why everyone wouldn't want on board.

every time I see an author I know from my last site, their book and name i recognize?
i give a good comment, and a good review.
that's my peeps.

(dry dead pan voice and face)
yeah.
let's all get T-shirts and ballcaps.
"I love C.O.C.K."

*sheesh*
I hit Rising Stars top 10 on RR without being part of this review swap bullshit before I deleted my novel from the site. You just need to post daily for a month and have at least 1k readers (this was a couple years ago, not sure if the algorithm's changed), but you will hit Rising Stars regardless of whether you're part of a group or not.

I hit #1 trending on Scribblehub multiple times. I do not know how, but I just posted daily and replied to almost every comment.

You don't need to be a part of any of this clique crap to hang on the front page. Just be consistent and decent.

Okay, people.

@TinaMigarlo So... Mind telling me how much did you write in a month?
Hm. right now, I'm editing all my stuff, and putting it slowly up here.
when I'm writing, I generally manage a chapter a day or so.
that's anything from 2k to 5k. depends on my work schedule, what else I'm up to IRL.
and no, I never use AI. (writing shows this)

the last book I started and was working on, I have to check the dates on the files, I guess. Hold on.
what the... all the dates are the same? oh, I copied them over. go to the thumb drive i created them on. there.
started the new book on december 23. chapter 16, says jan 7
23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
yeah. 16 days, 16 chapters. but, word counts...
5063
4868
3834
4656
3677
4989
4240
2725
5789
3168
(end part 1, 10 chapters) 37,946 words
3788
3773
4651
2728
3391
2646
(part 2, out to 6 chapters) 20,977 words so far

shit, calculator required.
58,923 words over 16 chapters in 16 days.
that's just rough draft time. but, i did some basic editing as I went. one day, maybe two chapters, next day, some more editing.

uhh... honestly i'd hate for you to pick one of my oldest novels to spot check my writing.
I'd rather give you one of my newer chapters to spot check my writing, its improved over time.

heres the prospective rough of the cover idea, for this one I gave word counts and days writing for...
BetrayalCircle8.jpg

but? Question.
what does all this, have to do with my general idea.
that we all stick together, as a team.
like lots of other groups are acting as a team.
I already admitted, I don't feel I'm good enough to "represent" us
but I got no problem with supporting my own teams writers, with love.
we all shit in the same pit. why not.

we have three choices...
we can hate and review bomb each other (retarded) (this? is what my *last* site does. Idiots.)
we can do *nothing*, which is pretty much what we do now.
we can all show each other love.

now... I ask you.
Out of three choices?
which one is the worst.(first option)
which one is the best. (last option)
which one are we doing now. (middle option)

What the fuck. Why are you talking like this?

If you really want to support other writers, then why don't you make something like BL Palace that doesn't require people to help each other to be inside the circle? Just make it a volunteer group work and we're done with this.

You wanna talk bullies, TinaMigario?

RR's forum is a fucking pigpile. Pardon my language, but it's the plain truth.
I didnt know RR had a forum, to be honest.
but I swear by all that's holy, I bet it don;t hold a *candle*
to where I came from.
I feel like I was released from state prison, coming here, lol.
we were all afraid to post our links to our works?
random members of us, would go 1 star us. Morons.
or, as I suspected... cabal members infiltrating us. (we had one huge star, and some lesser stars)

you asked:

I showed you:
that many words and chapters, in 16 days. rough drafting.

Wherever it was, I've likely been there.

I've tried out Quotev, Wattpad, AO3, FF.Net, RR, Inkitt... heck. And others. Lost count, tbh. An editor at Goodreads even linked my Wattpad posts into Goodreads, so I was sort of there too, indirectly. Until I pulled the plug on Wattpad.

All these places, too much petty crap from bullying nobodies pretending that the semiliterate trash they post on Patreon pays their rent. I was looking for aspiring novelists. All I've found is spammers, petty bullies and thugs.

This site is a breath of fresh air. I like it here. My theory is that SH collects the expatriates who've fled all those other hell holes. (I'm only here because I have one and a half feet out of Royal Road. LOL.)

Now if only a few readers would follow us here! LMAO. Don't get me wrong. SH has readers. No doubt. But sadly too few. Or maybe the issue is that ALL online reading is in decline.

I think I did mention somewhere on the forum that this place is an acting sanctuary for a lot of writers, so, yeah.

You know, when I first saw this thread, I thought it was going to be about something fun, like multiple authors trying to coordinate a single story taking place in a single world from multiple perspectives and upload all those different perspectives onto scribblehub.

Then I was thinking to myself that we're all too amateurish to pull that off but let's see what it is anyway.

Instead I got this nonsense. Oh well.

Way better my ass.

Look, I'm gonna give you a spine of reality and pray that you don't cry from this.

You, my friend, are just someone who had been too deep within the author zone to the point you've wrote so many chaps and released them already. I won't lie, I was surprised by the numbers. What unsettled me was that not many people are reading your works. If you're really doing something nice for your novels, I'm sure readers would come to check you. But no, people doesn't seem to like your works.

Now look at my recently published novel. The one on my signature with a guy typing on a hologram laptop.

It got two hundreds views and eleven readers. I haven't even posted up to ten chapters yet. You see what I mean?

It is what it is.

That's that and this is this.
then you're better than me.
and I'm happy for you.
I can tell you at least one or two reasons, why I have so many words and chapters, and so little views and readers.

one... I'm really not writing on meta. to market.
not, to web novel market, anyways. I try to write, like the old paperbacks I used to read.
which... was *not* OP MC, isekai, harem stuff. that, is all new to me.

two... I don't write in what I call "web novel style"
1500 word chapters. I was writing 5k to 10k chapters. I cut down to 5k as a semi hard limit, to better fall into WN standards.
I don't write in one sentence paragraphs, which seems to be the standard deal.
again, it might well be my writing quality is not up to snuff?
but... I'm not writing what and how WN readers expect. Honestly, I write a lot more, like trad pub. which is different.

I'm trying to adapt.
My one I'm working on now? Isekai. My own take on it. I never wrote to WN market before.
Everything's all... my goblin girlfriend has been isekai'd into my neighbor's dog... (making a joke, but)
that's what all this is like, coming into it cold.

admit it. as good as you are?
what would you expect, if you wrote something, like... a 1990's investigation noir novel.
not *really* something "goblin slayer" and "OPMC isekai" fans would click on and read now, is it.

my new one I'm working on?
Isekai.
I want to see if I can do better, because Isekai is on target to WN readers.
I wanna see if I can get more results, writing in "trad pub" style but in market genre.

look. you, nolff.
you're better than me? cool beans.
you wanna tell me I suck? I'm not mad. Its your opinion. again, cool beans.

me? I really wouldn't *benefit* from what I'm proposing now, would I.
but you? better than me. with a real chance. You, would benefit.
and no. I'm not an "attention parrot" or whatever.
I just feel as if there's advantages to be had, and everyone is passing them up, letting other groups have all these advantages.
and since I suck so bad, as you claim. and that may well be so.
this would benefit me? really, not at all.

this? what I proposed.
it would benefit... *you*
the better writer.

remember. I said. We should *vote* on who the best writers to represent us, were.
I *know* it wouldn't be me win that vote.
but, you? hundreds of readers, with only ten chapters, as you flexed.
I guess... you would win that vote. not, me.

so. here's you. gratuitously insulting my writing. which, I don't care. That's fine. By WN standards? I'm clueless.
so. here's *me*. trying, to design a system? that benefits me, not at all. It would benefit? y-o-u. The better writer.

and as far as attacking my grammar and typing, when I'm typing fast and informal, not editing.
that has *nothing* to do, with my idea and proposition.

I'm trying to help y-o-u, nolf.
not myself.

maybe, you can see that.

I thought so too, but I read the OP and rolled with it.

This topic is also interesting to some of us, so it's all good.

Oh my f*cking god.

I wasn't even talking about styles. I was talking about... Forget it. Let me just explain you right away so then you understand what I mean.

I want you to understand that yes, I know you're writing for a specific kind of readers. I'm not here to make a comparison of my good writing and your bad writing, even though I am. No, don't even look at me glazing myself. I am dead f*cking serious about this.

I am not trying to prove a point about me being better than you.

I am trying to give you the context: There's something that causes people to draw away from your books. I am pointing a problem occurring to your novels. I'm gonna go down on the technical stuff here, so bear with me and take this advice with a grain of salt.

The grammar of your works is okay, most of the time. The phrasing, how you form words and sentences, how your paragraphs flow, and whatnot, feels so weird that I can't play the scene in my head. Reading a scene and imagining it coming to life is what makes reading fictions fun. But, your books, my friend, feels like it doesn't want to be played. It only wanted to be read and understood on the very basic level of understanding, as if it's a documentary.

Sorry, but if I cannot make sense of it, I'm sure that's why people flock away from your books.

To anyone who wants to help me prove my point, you can read her novels here in her SH profile. Be sure to leave a comment here and there, if you want to help prove my point. https://www.scribblehub.com/profile/243593/tinamigarlo/

Hobbyists. Professionals likely have stubbed their works here.
I can't speak for every writer here. But I've come to places like this to post fan fiction. So yeah. Hobby.

Semi-professional: e-pub to Amazon Prime, Barnes&Noble, and other epub/booksellers, with legitimate ISBNs linked into Goodreads. Promote Goodreads through social media. Yes, I tried it "legit" for a few years with original work, not fan fiction, and made some pretty good coin. But never enough to quit my day job, and it was a pain dealing with the tax filings for supplementary income, so I eventually gave it up. The books are still there, and they still actually make money every year, but not enough that I have to declare it.

Professional? A step above the legitimate epub route. Impossible to break into trades without an agent, because the mainstream trade market has consolidated and shrunken. Virtually impossible to get an agent unless you can bring an audience. And not "3,000,000 views from 5,000 Patreon donors." Agents want to see 50,000 buyers, and/or a sizable captive audience. You need to be a full time professor, or a university intern/post-grad, or a working journalist, or a media personality. Or, nepotism helps. Used to be, it was the nieces and nephews of big screen producers who got all the screenwriting jobs. Now you have to know someone to publish a book.

The essential challenge is that no one (on average) reads anymore.

guys? I'm not mad.

I'm honestly not trying to do anything for myself.
but admit it.
anyone wants to write Yuri? seems some cabal doesn't *allow* you to.
and they enforce that!
oh well. keep "being the better man", and let them keep you locked out. I don't care.
doesn't benefit me to try to help even things up.

you must all like things the way they are.
we all know, RR is the big market.
Me? I'm no big WN writer (as Nolff so adroitly pointed out. thank you Nolff, I never suspected *wink*)

but... you guys? I mean the ones that have a chance.
you're ONE WRITER, going up against a *team*.
you expect a fair fight, 12 on 1? you;re dreaming.

you're entering a sword fight...
and the other guy has a four foot rapier.
you? have a one foot rapier.
I'm trying to give you the extra three feet, to make it fair.

it helps you guys, not really me.

but, whatever. I said my piece.
keep letting yourselves get pushed to the back of the line.
your competition, ain't fighting fair.
you keep fighting fair? its not working.

don't band together, strength in numbers. like everyone else is doing.
why should I argue to try to get you to help yourselves.
I don't get anything out of it.

Nolff? No hard feelings on my part.
I see "nolff" on any novel at any other site?
I give you love. 5 stars.

I'm outta here.
I got another chapter top edit. which sucks, by the way.
but you know what? I'm gonna edit it anyways.
peace.

I just feel as if there's advantages to be had, and everyone is passing them up, letting other groups have all these advantages.
I think the main problem I have with these suggestions is that I don't see these things as benefits.

waves of positive comments.
waves of five stars.
waves of readers. Hey, if you just skim down? it counts.
Look at these. Are these things really benefits?

Waves of false positive comments from people who don't actually care about your work?
Waves of five stars by people who didn't bother reading your work?
Waves of readers who just skim down the page because that's all it takes to count as a valid read?

Aren't these just drugs to get us addicted to the things that don't really matter?

Second of all, you seem to have this strange idea that we're fighting other sites. But the views, reviews, and ratings from RR don't affect views, reviews, and ratings here. They're completely separate. Our competition is solely other novels on Scribblehub. Therefore, it doesn't make any sense to bring in the workings of other sites and compare it to Scribblehub.

which book, which chapter did you read.
why don't you let me pick one of my more *recently* edited chapters, that's a better example.
there's some stuff there, that's unedited to how I edit now, from a couple years ago.

nolff? the quality of my writing. is *not* the point of all this. Its neither here nor there.

I keep saying it... this? what I propose. Will not really benefit me!
It would, however... benefit the better writers.
how in the world, is it in any way logical. That the quality of my writing, affects the logic of my argument.
in no way whatsoever.

from what L1aei said? *anyone* here (better writers then me, I'm quite sure)
if they want to write yuri?
They're not *allowed* !!
some, discord cabal? Enforces it!

you like living like that? Fine.

you like going up against a coordinated team, as one man? again, fine. Keep doing it.

you like entering a sword fight with a one foot sword, and everyone else has a four foot sword?
more power to you.

you enjoy starting the monopoly game with 200 dollars, as per the rules? and the other players are getting 10,000 to start with.
fine by me.

the quality, or the lack thereof, of my writing? does not affect my logic of what I propose, one single iota.

once more. this benefits me? not at all.
it would only benefit, the better writers. who actually have a chance.

You won't believe the fights I've gotten into with so-called authors on Royal Road over just what you're writing about. False Ratings. False "Reading" counts. False "Follow" counts. And fraudulent reviews, worst of all. (Or maybe you would believe it.)

All that crap they pull over there: How many slots do the RR "Trending" and "Rising Stars" lists hold, between them? Forty? Fifty?

Awful fights, over the meaninglessness of what they're all backstabbing each other for, over there.

Fifty self-absorbed, myopic blowhards, all fighting over the same stale gulp of air.

It's funny. Every time someone mentions RR, I think to myself, "eh, it's probably not that bad. It's all just an exaggeration based upon one or two bad eggs." So I probably wouldn't believe it. :blob_teehee:

Edit: for context I don't use RR. I have no idea what it's like so I only get my knowledge from other forumers here.
