I've been using novelupdates since before 2014 I guess. Never used ScribbleHub in its early days. Absolutely never posted a story online either.

I finally wrote my first original work. And I am looking for platforms where I can post them to be serialised. 3-4 chapters per week is my aim for now. My aim for posting right now is to gain feedback and not to make money.

I am confused between the plethora of different options available. Someone suggested why don't I use all of them.

My question in lieu to this is can I post my story in multiple places? Like ScribbleHub, Wattpad, webnovel, Substack, Medium etc. Is this okay/allowed?

Most website don't have an exclusivity rule + as long you don't sign any contract you'll continue to retain the copyright to your story which mean you can post them anywhere.

on the topic of contracts, if you were ever offered one, READ THE FINE PRINT. they're meticulously written to the point where they literally own your series even if they seem free and open.

If your work becomes popular enough, bots will harvest and dump to aggregators. Just like in the old DOS game Moon Bugs.

What is interesting is how webnovel (just the name should have been a clue to their inappropriate ambition) is still able to attract new vict- blood despite their now no longer hidden smarmy reputation.

When they started, they had this initial pull of claiming to be different from those with paywall systems. They were, but that did not last long when they realized they did not have enough foresight, that the business model will not make them easy money. The watch-an-ad-to-read chapters became unlock-with-spirit-stones chapters. The resulting convoluted schema is worse than straightforward paywalls.

The rest is history, dark history.

Yes, webnovel scares me a lot. I'll be lying if I said otherwise. The problem of the bot's harvesting is seriously something that cannot be bypassed anyway, since you can find a free ebook version or pdf of even the costliest books out there on the internet.

Thank you so much this helps clarify a lot of stuff. God bless ?

Alverost senpai I have a small doubt.

I have my own blog. But I used that only for short stories or poetry. My most inclined option to post the story is on my own blog.

my doubt is can I post the story on my blog and then have it show up on ScribbleHub like Novelupdates does for novels? Or do I need to compulsorily post only on ScribbleHub for it to show my novel in its directory.

not advertising but this is my Blog,
Can you suggest if it'll be good to use this or do you suggest I make a new one on WordPress or somewhere else?

No, SH doesnt work like NU. NU is a link clearing house whereas Scribblehub is an actual content housing site. To show your novel on SH, it needs to be posted here.

Basically what Sabru said, for it to appear on SH, you'll need to post the story on SH. You can continue posting on the blog and on SH at the same time. There's nothing that'll stop you from doing that.
