In my story(That I haven't posted yet), I've having my MC be with a sort of Loli I guess or more so a petite woman that is much shorter than average be his companion, also being a spirit for extra points.
Do you think a Loli companion is better (like Paimon) or a much taller, MILF if that's what you want, or just generally a taller, more mature looking (I have no example)?

Me personally?
Subaru and Beatrice, that's all you need to know.
(In a non-sexual, non ecchi, no weirdo way)

Is it a romantic interest or just platonic friendship? If it’s a shorter than average woman I was thinking someone like Rebecca from Cyberpunk Edgerunners would be super cool. Beatrice from Re:Zero is also awesome. Preferably no romance for me though.

If it’s a taller woman, a muscle mommy would be cool. Like Malevola from Dispatch. Or Unohana from Bleach! :blob_aww: Kind, smart, always smiling, but has a terrifying side to her.

If it's platonic, it's better if it's a male. Bros before... nvm i won't finish that.

Yes, no romance, at least in terms of the literal Loli unless it's just a shorter woman, where that would be fine if there was romance. For y book, there's no romance, purely platonic friendship and deep trust.

Loli is pedo-coded; I'd personally refrain from using that word.
Don't care what anyone says, since lolicon is an attraction to prepubescent girls.

I'd recommend sticking with 'petite' woman or even 'shortstack'.

The term "loli" refers to a character archetype in anime and manga that typically depicts young or young-looking girls, often under the age of 13

Loli means kid or child-like appearance. On its own, it has nothing to do with being attracted to them. It's the people who like them in a weird way that give this wrong impression.

So no, Loli is no pedo-coded, but it can bring pedos. Please don't say weird things like that.

If it’s purely platonic, go for whatever you deem fits the aesthetic of your story the best. ? I hope the shortstack petite woman doesn’t act like a child though ? unless she is a child.

She can be a bit childish at times (Forcing the MC to do things, guilt-tripping him to forgiving her), but who isn't? But she is for the most part very mature and isn't being a childish 24/7. if anything, she's more mature than the MC. (Educating him on the world and helping him get stronger. As well as serving to keep him in check.)

Ohh by childish I meant literal child behavior, like being extremely naive or other infantilizing behavior (you know what I mean). The stuff you listed seem more like flaws rather than being childish, I think? In any case you seem more inclined towards having a petite female lead, so go for it. ?

Defy expectations! Make a MILF that is immature and bratty AF. LOL JK

EDIT: This was a joke, making unlikeable characters may push readers away.

Exactly.

"Loli means kid or child-like appearance," so when you say you want a loli character, you're implying you want a female character that looks like a child. That, in itself, is heavily pedo-coded, whether you're innocent about it or not.

There are plenty of other terms that can be used and are much less problematic than the Japanese term you're explicitly using.
So, unless you're Japanese, there's not much need for it.

Also, word of caution: Next time you pull up an article, please read the contents.
That link goes to a site mentioning what I'm talking about: "Loli (ロリ)" is a slang word meaning "prepubescent girl" in Japanese"

No? What are you talking about?

Saying loli doesn't mean you want a child character, it just means a character with child-like appearance, there's a difference.

If I said I wanted child-looking character, that wouldn't make me a pedo (Not that I would since I don't really care what a character looks like as long as it's not problematic). it also depends on the context, like if I wanted a loli to be with this severely depressed guy who lost all his innocence, it would be as if I'm saying I want this guy to see the innocence he lost and protect this child's innocence.

The context of when you use loli matters, not just the word itself. At least from my experience, most people don't automatically go things like pedo or any of that, we just assume kid or that person is making some joke with the word.

But yes, there are other terms like petite, or small, or short stack. Loli is just the most recognized one and I personally never think of anything weird or bad when it comes to that term unless that character is presented in a weird way.

And the Japanese part doesn't really matter. You don't need to be Japanese to say a word associated with Japanese culture. I don't know where that came from.

But hey, you think what you think, and vice versa. ?

Using the term loli by itself suggests that. You want a character with a child-like appearance, that's the whole point of my argument.
And no, you don't need to be japanese, but it's a japanese slang that is used to describe minors. Context doesn't matter.
You'd know this if you even read the link to the website you posted, it explains everything for you.

Good luck in writing~
