Look at how catgirls start out with only the ears [like in "Spice and Wolf," "Nekopara," etc.], and look at how they end up in more hardcore stories [like "Beastars," "BNA: Brand New Animal {has both types}," "Hyper Police {has both types}," etc.]; eventually the stories portray full anthro or even monster girls [like "Monster Musume No Iru Nichijou," "A Centaur’s Life," "Ishuzoku Reviewers," etc.]. The non-human genres are the same fandom.)
