Have you ever printed a personal copy of your story?

I don't mean becoming a professional publisher. I mean making a few copies for yourself and some friends.
If you have done this, show us some pics. What services did you use? I'm thinking of printing a personal copy of one of my completed stories.

I haven't done like ever. My first story hasn't even been completed. But would love to see someone's else's example.

No, but I have a physical copy of the book I was editor for. Does that count? :blob_melt:

I got mine published through Amazon. It was decent quality for a paperback. The hardbacks are a bit iffy. You can technically not publish the book and just request author copies. Just don't request the test copies because they have a watermark on the front and back. I've heard Barnes and Nobles has good printing quality with a similar system to Amazon's. If you are looking just get a copy and nothing else, I've heard a lot of good things about ingramsparks. I've also heard of bookbaby but can't recommend them as I do not know enough about their quality and business practices.

I don't, but it is always in the back of my head, as a nice novelty.

But that idea shares the same space with fear of someone close to me discovering the said book (if I ever get it printed) and reading all the cringe I written.

Amazon has the option to print your book as physical copy on demand. Assuming you use their services.

When I was 16, I bought a colored printer and printed out my first novels and shared them with my friends. I still have them…

Which is good because the OG documents are gone already but I can still read the absolute cringe those stories were.

They'll do this for any book? Or do you have to get approved for it? If I ever do finish, I think a personal copy what actually be super cool.

No, though I did have comp copies of my first three published materials (all given away; wound up buying my own copy of one due to not understanding a clause in the contract!), all adventures for roleplaying games. One was a POD - but it was "demanded" by the publisher for me (partly to make up for accidentally not letting me have a comp copy of the first thing I wrote for them!).

Don't know about now. When Ai-chan used Amazon last time, Ai-chan was on KDP. It was a talking point among KDP authors.

You all need to learn Hungarian for that.

Edit:

I rewrote the first one btw, it is on my profile. Sadly, not many were interested in it, so it was finished early. As for which is it, I’m not telling. Read all of my books to find out.
