I was playing Yakuza Kiwami 2 tonight, and I happened upon a certain sidequest. Anyone familiar with the game probably knows exactly what I'm talking about. For those who don't...well, I'll let the game speak for itself:

And because I'm apparently a glutton for mental torture, what are some of you guys' favorite (or least favorite) WTF moments in gaming?

For me, it was back in the days when I played Civ IV and I played as India in 18 civs. For some reason, the Russian empire declared war on me and marched through my neighbouring empire the Persians.

It was during the modern era with WW2 esque troops on both sides. And after capturing a hill on the Far East of India , they decided to send a Knight on horseback to reclaim it.
And yes , Russia was still somehow using medieval units in the modern era. I then sent a helicopter to shoot him down , but somehow, the Knight was able to knock down my helicopter with a sword and destroyed it.

I remember it clear as the morning hour. I was a child watching my older brother play a somewhat niche and also shit PS2 FPS game titled Turok Evolution, where you go around levels gibbling lizardmen. We've played through the game countless times by then and this particular time, my brother was playing a level that contained an elevator at the very end leading to a cutscene with the big bad.

In our adolescent brilliance, we decided to try and break the game by sending out a remote-operated spiderbomb down the elevator to see whether or not the game rendered the big bad's model before the player got there. Surprisingly, he was there, and my brother detonated the spiderbomb. A bloodcurdling cry soon followed. My brother then made his way down the elevator himself, to see how the cutscene would be affected.

Lo and behold, the big bad of the game stood there as a gibbed body, still speaking as if nothing happened.

I've never seen this glitch documented anywhere on the internet.

Mine is from a visual novel, Sharin no Kuni. So I am going to spoiler it:

Throughout the game, there were weird sound effects sometimes. Door closing, the chair being knocked back, etc. Happening when there was no reason to. I thought it was some bug.

In the story there existed a law, a punishment that branded criminals to be avoided. Ignored. Never to acknowledge their existence.

If through the game you didn't went for either of the girls, the last route would open up, revealing that your sister was branded with such punishment.

Turns out, she was the one making the noises as you began rebelling against the system and the game acknowledged her presence. Turns out, whenever the player was talking to himself, imagining answers, it was you talking to her.

It was a great reveal that took me by surprise.

I guess the closest I got in relevance to the quest would be Civ 6, where I was doing decently well, but for some reason, in the last time I found the last indio village in the last time. Those ancient people shared with me their knowledge, passed down by vocal transmission. This is how I came to know about the secrets of the CYBERNETIC!

Then less in this direction. It got me quite badly to realize that Dying Light the Following ends in a lose-lose choice, effectively telling me whatever I've done in the whole series was pointless.

NFS MW oil leak. I am pretty sure most of us played that part multiple times hoping to avoid it somehow.

Trails in the Sky 1st chapter ice cream scene completely hooked me into the series and made me buy every game in the series.
Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, and Metro Exodus endings made me cry especially exodus driving scene..
Ace Combat 7 mission 19 made me go wtf because the perfectly timed bgm literally gave me goosebumps.
A lot of VNs give me wtf moments especially since most of them have amazing plot twists.

I don't have one on top of my head that I could say was my favorite or least, but as for recent games I played...

Tribe Nine, prologue. Not the most extreme, but that one scene definitely reminded me that, yeah, this is a game from the Danganronpa Devs.
