I am only concerned about it if the protagonist or an important main character is a part of that group (they can the child, the father or the mother).

This relationship must be one of the more significant factor to the story as a whole.

Prefer if the story is either drama-focus or fighting-focus.

Godammit.

I actually recall a couple of works with MC being the child of a heartless father. Who, due to the large amount of children, wives and relatives, hated MC for being worthless. Even when MC proved his worth many times, only to be shot down purely out of spite.

There was even a time with the father's inner monologue and the reason for him hating MC was laughable; he simply can't stand the simple fact that he himself might be wrong about MC being worthless. He deemed MC a unfilial waste of his face and resources by being worthless but he hated it even more when MC proven his worth and "trample on the father's reputation and judgment".

I cannot even.

I mean hostile. I don't mean some a little harsh treatment. I am looking for fighting with the intention to kill.

So you mean there is no novel where the mother wanted to end the father's family bloodline because she was raped by him and she hated every second of carrying the unwanted fetus within her? Or the child hated his heartless mother for killing all the innocent relatives he grew up with just because they are related to the rapist that was his father. Meanwhile, the father considered the child as a failure for not living up to his expectation and that the result of his and the raped woman's genetic entanglement was just a slightly above average kid. He resented the kid for being such a disappointment that did not justify the risk of offending the mother for that entire rapey stunt and all the investment that went into his education and nurture. He then hated the kid for being one of the reasons that led to his clan's collapse and demise. He hated the woman for killing innocent relatives instead of going straight to him as part of her twisted revenge of "letting you watch your world burn around you". And the kid later intentionally involved countless bystanders who even had just a little relevancy to the his parents just for a better chance of killing his vengeful mother and making his father's new found secluded life a living hell for starting the entire facade and bringing him into this world as well as remotely related to the death of countless others.

Its very hard to find something like that because their culture setting is all about respecting your parents and ancestors...
So the hostility is usually one-sided, grown-ups all hate MC.

Might be odd, but most MC interaction with his mother in many works I read is quite amicable.

It is always the father that is the bastard.

A sentiment that I wholeheartedly agree because personal experience. So yes, I am very biased.
