Trying to read a translated novel sucks.

Sometimes there is a work you enjoy and the publishers/translators or whatever are like, "Let's not bother translating in that language anymore." It's like an infinite hiatus, but worse, as you know that there is more to be read, they just don't want to have it in your language.

That’s why I find the raws before reading, so I can MTL after the translation catches up/ends.

There's only so many languages I can learn in my spare time. Can't do Polish, Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Swedish, Japanese, and Filipino. That being said, your dedication impresses me.

The quality has gotten better, especially for Chinese to English. Of course it has its quirks, but it is significantly better than it was two or three years ago.

Honestly, I agree. The only thing that may finish the translations are the legit folks from Seven Seas or J-Novel Club. We don't talk about Yen Press though... (unless everyone here told me that they're increasing their pace at releasing the volumes)

That's why I look to make sure the whole thing is translated before reading (I don't most of the time, I LIED, but still I do try to check if I'm not reading an official translation (and jojo's is a bizarre case where the fans are doing a better job at both accuracy and speed than the official translation, but that's a manga not a novel))

I don't mind if you want to include manga, poems, plays, etc. All good works of art should be translated for the benefit of the world.

That's why I look to make sure the whole thing is translated before reading

As red blooded American Englishman, instead of learning another language to read raws I prefer to conduct an imperialist invasion of foreign territory and forcibly convert the locals to English speakers

Then you go and check the original, and machine translate it, but then it repeats itself, and as it turns out it was intentional, and you just wasted half an hour checking
