30 September - 1 October.

It's a regular night for everyone.

All laughing, cackling over the memes, giving partners flowers, successful marketing, all the sweets.

In one part of the world, 70% of the country was giving condolence. At that time, every year, any places with red & white flags were flipped upside down, mimicking Poland's flag, and it was raised half-pole. Warning spread across the land; 'Don't come out tonight'. Although many still left houses and buildings, it felt like empty areas. Those big cities, still have traffic jams, but one big difference made the night unlike the others. Everyone, even the most religious person in that country and the farmer guarding his crops in the middle of the night felt remorse.

All because of one event. Just one, only one.

...

And the world just f*cking watched.

The government watched, the CIA watched, the goddamn president f*cking watched.

Hell, even the ghosts were scared sh*tless.

...

Over 5 Million people died that time, in the span of a night, 1965. More were captured, tortured, tormented, all kinds of those. Some were released after a few nights, some after a few weeks, some in several months, more in a year or two. But the rest...

They were holed in places like Alcatraz for more than seven years, some longer than ten and fifteen.

They received various treatments. Electrocuted while lying tied on a bed, froze for 3 hours, punched, slapped, isolated in a bathroom covered under a big blanket making a single full breath a relief, and more undiscovered methods.

...

What of the deceased?

...

Drowned, slit on the throat, stabbed, gunned down, blunt force trauma, crushed by cars, electrocuted till death, confined till pulseless, decapitated, piked, beaten to death, thrown off a cliff, dropped from tall buildings, all kinds of death.

...

Worse?

...

That night of the year, a family of three was home safe and sound. The lady set the kitchen table with cutleries, the man set the meal down, and the child set the chairs around. As they were ready to eat, the front door was knocked. They thought it was someone, so the man shouted at the door, demanding the guest to wait till they were done with the dinner. Doors kept banging, so the father went to see who that was. And after a moment, the wife checked the front door, wondering why the husband hadn't come back to the dining room.

Silence greeted her, the mellow wind pushed her hair back, and the kid asked where his father went.

...

Worse?

...

No reason. None. None was given to them.

The kid was treated as a worthless being. Exiled from many schools, harassed, and chased for some time.

The wife was treated like a peasant. Fired from the job, denied applications, rocks and dirt thrown at her and the house, and more.

...

They never knew where the father went, until 1999.

He went somewhere safer than that land at that time.

...

Moslems are one kind of religious people. Strict laws, prohibitions, discipline, and kindness. Befriending them felt like a nice life addition. They read their holy book, kitabs, do daily prayers, all that stuff. That night...

They're cold-blooded murderers.

...

How many?

...

More than 20 thousand.

Their numbers are just a thousand.

...

It was a history.

A nightmare one.

It should be memorized.

It should be remembered.

It should not be forgotten.

It should be learned.

...

And it should not be repeated.

Communist and Nazies hate each other? Or do you mean with communism what China and Russia does?
Communist and Nazis are both extreme socialists where they believe the state owns everything, therefore they are the same to me.

The only good communist/nazi, is a dead communist/nazi. To me they are the same.
Are they? Heh.

You'd be surprised to know that they were also victims.

It wasn't like that in this case.

Most of the followers know communism stuff only through pamphlets, posters, and the leaders' speeches. It might be less than that.

To stop being victims, death is their only escape.

Okay, I'm going to stop trolling here------

In reality, there is a lot of injustice that happens. Often, victims become the perpetrator, however, perceived victims (people who believe they are victims even if they are not) also become the perpetrators too. No matter what scale we use, we will never be able to measure the extent of injustice in the lives of everyone.

However, the fear, paranoia, the brainwashing ideology, the movements that people take without critically thinking of bad potential outcomes, often that leads to creating more 'victims' thus more problems. In a lot of ways, purging of communists are justified, in other ways it is not. However, Nazis and Communists both do one thing which I absolutely hate.

They make propoganda and gaslight the populace.
They obscure the truth of their own actions to try and become sympathetic.
I really don't believe in sympathy.

I do believe in Mercy, that is the willingness to let go of revenge or punishment if someone has truly changed, but I don't believe in sympathy of empathy because often those are tools of manipulation.

But was this the right approach? 'Course not.

People don't really like Communists back then. Now, almost everyone sympathizes with them for a bit.

Right or wrong, we won't ever know.
America lets their communists go about and look at all the problems they're causing now. Quite a few of them are in office too.

I don't know much about Indonesia.
I think the cultuural aspects are also something to be considered.
America is by default Multicultural, and hard to predict.

I think Anon also refers to the fact that America is literally a country of immigrants. The US isn’t really a nation defined by a particular ethnic group or religion. (It runs on capitalism and equal hate on everyone. Haha jk)

This is also the reason why some consider the US as having no historical culture cause it was a European frontier nation back then. And today, they don't consider it "old enough". What about Native Americans? They don't consider it cause they were colonized. Australia and New Zealand also have the same experience but nobody bats an eye about it.

I don't know, I'm always learning about a new regional culture every week. America is huge and more cultures are forming everyday.
Ah...

Wow. You know, I have never heard of this. The lack of coverage is some bullshit right there. WHY HAVE I NEVER HEARD OF THIS?!
Anyway, thanks for educating us. I appreciate you sharing with me this piece of tragic history.
And yes, a moment of silence for the lost.

Wait till you glance at the name "Soeharto".

Best 'leader' in the world, I'm telling ya.
Anyway, thanks for educating us. I appreciate you sharing with me this piece of tragic history.
My wish is for those non-Indonesian to know that Indonesia was made of blood, politics, and bonds, that includes you.

I never expected a compliment like you did, but I appreciate it nonetheless.

This was also why people should be aware of some Indonesian folks.

Because of our history, and our mouthful of critics, we tend to learn about other people's nations' histories.

Why? Well, sometimes it was just to learn, to satisfy our collective curiosity.

Other times... This'll be one of them:

And yes, a moment of silence for the lost.
:D
