A person’s ideals, viewpoints, character are all shaped by experiences throughout their life, so what would happen if you were to suddenly lose those experiences that made you “you”?

Personality is considered to be mostly genetic, and you’ve still retained your general knowledge. What would you do? What would happen to you.

Oh, you just make a new personality. It's kind of a blessing in disguise because you're able to view yourself objectively and mold yourself how you want to. It's pretty hard in some cases, but I'd say it's easier than trying to do so with your memories intact. Aspects of your old self will still be there btw. Just like how people have personalities from the time they were babies, you'll still have something, so you won't entirely be a blank slate.

Basically, even without memories, you're likely to still have a personality, but it's a lot easier to mold based on no memories supporting it

Continue college, take a part time job cause medical bills are godamn high, quit college cause it's not making money, focus slaving in low salary paying job, get tempt by drugs to escape the painful reality, become homeless and addicted, do bad things for drugs, get prisoned, somehow freed after few days, go back to old ways, overdosed in a corner of a street in Christmas eve.

Now look at what you did, you demon.

I would be able to experience my favorite movies for the first time once again… and my fav games… I would so take the ability to just forget selected things to enjoy them for the first time, once again.

It'd be fun to have a personality switch. Maybe there's a chance it'll make me more outgoing :blob_hmm_two:

You would be the person carved into your soul, the truest expression of you in human form.

I do have retrograde amnesia, but in my case I just continued on with my life and nothing really comes from it. It might have had more impact if it is another form of amnesia. Yet still there really isn't much to say about it. I don't communicate with anyone I used to know, but that isn't due to my amnesia.

Without my experiences and memories, I would no longer be myself. I would die the moment I lost my memory, and another person would be born. Personality is not solely determined by genetics; genes give us a predisposition, but it is living that shapes us as individuals.

Even if you lose your memories, I believe you would still retain the basic way your mind works, your principles and beliefs, but the reasons why you hold them would be inaccessible to you, and possibly the foundations holding it that way would be gone, thus allowing you to change them easier.

I think the results would be interesting. It could undo a lot of the hard work I've done on myself, as I would no longer have the reasons to why I act like I do even when it is against my instinctual nature.
