There's a well-knowned rapper in the underground Vietnamese rap scene named Acy (or Acy aka TT, or the Last Fortress of Southside, or King of Oldschool Rap, Oration Rapper).
In one of his newer track in 2020 (dude release like 1 track a year so this is considered a new one), he has one of the best line which made me think for a while.

Rough translation:"If you use this market as your material, then I will use you as material for myself. Creating a music that only for artists, and when artists listen to it they'll be taken to the next level."

Then I look back at the AI Art situation, this would apply so well!

Basically "If AI uses artists' work as its feeding material without their consent, then I will use AI as my own material." The latter part let's skip because I'm not at Acy's level

I sincerely believe that in the future, machine learning will be use for good, improving human between human like how chess was and we could say buh bye to the current crisis. Though, it's the future, no one can fucking predict the future to prove his own claim, therefore I must try first. I must prove my own thesis.

So therefore I'll try to be as daily as I could, spend 30 minute tracing AI work to improve upon myself. If this seems unethical to you, I am sorry.

Thank ya.

I'm too lazy, but this is something I've wanted to do as well. I genuinely believe it will make me (or you, in this case) a better artist.

Enjoy yourself~. :blob_salute:

Day 1:
Bad start, but expected,
What I learned:
- Start off easier, don't do semi realistic, I didn't think about this too far.
- Trust the process, there are few times where I felt like stopping the pen but continue and it went better than expected
- My older bro said I drew a Jojo female?

Ganbare! :blob_paint:

Though, be mindful that AI fucks up anatomy quite often and it's not always easy to spot if you don't have a trained eye yet. To avoid catching bad habits while drawing, you can add 10min of basics to the mix. It will also speed up the process a lot

For those interested in learning the basics, I can recommend a few YT channels:
  1. Marc Brunet
  2. moderndayjames
  3. e r g o j o s h
  4. Trent Kaniuga
  5. Saito Naoki
Also, daily reminder that tracing is not the same as redrawing.
Tracing - you put a paper on top of the image and draw over it.
Drawing from reference - looking at the reference photo and then drawing from 0 on a paper.

I suggest actually tracing it, if you're just practicing. It'll help you build up good muscle memory, instead of trying to force it.
Though with AI art, you'll have to make corrections to the work as you go, so it's slightly worse for beginners. It's sort of an intermediate step, in my eyes. Helpful for giving you confidence, rather than muscle memory.

Building a muscle memory happens when you practice regularly. Tracing doesn't build up anything but bad habits. There's been already enough discourse on this topic in the art community.
It's a shortcut that will only turn into a crutch later on. Without proper understanding of fundamentals everything you draw in the future will look off and it will take more time and effort to re-learn later.
