Seeking Advice: Navigating ScribbleHub vs. Royal Road & Increasing Visibility

I feel like Royal Road readers expect higher quality stories and don't show mercy to those that don't meet their standards lol.
I think there's a misconception. RR doesn't necessarily have higher-quality stories; however, I'd be inclined to say there are definitely more high-quality stories that are able to flourish there than in SH.

I don't know if it is because of the traffic RR gets, but both TFTBN and NS did well there when NS failed in SH. However, on the other hand, Immigrant Realm series and PTWW have a very low view count for how good the prose and concept are. <=Most high-quality content falls here, and I'm going to attribute it to the sheer number of readers.

I used to be one of the folks as a reader who believed RR had higher quality—most of my favorite wns were from there—but the crux of the matter is that RR has a very specific niche to fill in (edgy fantasy, most of the time), decent grammar, and writing, which is not unexpected considering natives write there. Nevertheless, even being a native doesn't mean you have good storytelling and writing capabilities.

If stuff was of higher quality there, I'd not have to be a racoon to dig good ones.

Commenting is very chapter-dependent, but I also consider it to be rare here; I totally agree. Most people are usually only here to read, which is fine. I have no problem with that ofc. I am happy as long as the views counter goes up at a steady rate. :blob_hide:

This part surprises me. I don't think I've gotten a single comment on my story on SH in the past three weeks, but well over 50 on RR in the same time.
Really? maybe your story just appeals more to the RR community then. I always have much better engagement on Scribblehub but more readers and reviews on Royal Road

Based on my experience, RR does have higher-quality stories. The thing is, they pay for the quality with an absurd lack of variety. It's the same thing over and over again.
I feel my answer was a bit too nuanced. It's not as if I'm disagreeing that RR's quality (prose) is better than SH. Having a better command of the English language, vocabulary, and grammar already makes it possible. However, do note that while SH follows traditional LN-inspired writing, RR prefers more descriptive writing, most of which isn't special or, I'd consider, high quality. If I'm being honest, I'd have to search a lot to find stories that seem readable to me and that I personally enjoy.

And as far as variety goes, I'd disagree. It may be because of the numbers, but even if they are not popular in RR, they have more variety. There's a reason SH is called the smuthub, and every other story has either an action or adventure tag. The difference is that, unlike RR, it is not dominated by a single genre.

And? There is a reason why people say that if it's not LitRPG you may forget about RR, and every other story has action or adventure tag. Anyway, I don't want to argue, since you won't be able to change my opinion, and I won't be able to change yours.

I was not arguing, lol. Sorry, if I gave off the impression. Simply tried to explain myself.
