1) None of the adults thought to have her sleep in a different room for the first night or two? I would never put my kid in a freshly painted room, just stand at the doorway to take a look for a few seconds. I'm sure there are adults this stupid out there, but three of them!? That's the kind of behavior I'd expect from a single parent, if a single parent could afford their own home on minimum wage or inherited the home from dead relatives.

I'll have to read 2 later.

2) The characters actually had personality, and the setting intrigued me. My curiosity got hooked on the part about regular cars. The ending makes the reader's imagination dance.

I've gotta give it to 2 . . . Oh my, I did wind up breaking a tie!
