The title basically says it.
In the case, I would make a collaboration with another author and we'd both write different stories that play in the same world, but we'd still like to post them on our own accounts, would it be possible to have a shared world story link on the main page to each other's story?
Regarding my own attempts, it only works with my own portfolio of stories, but maybe I could request for a link? Naturally with the consent of the other author.
For now, this is more of a theoretical question, but it might concretely become relevant for me in the future.
Maybe this is the wrong thread for this, but I'd like to know if that's the case and where else to put it.

I have a universe in the creation just for this simple reason... I have not opened it up yet because I don't know how people would react to it or what it would entail to copyright issues. It is a can of worms I am not yet ready to tackle. :sweating_profusely:

No idea if there's a copyright on the name already, but I decided to call my world "Ea".
It's a typical fantasy world of sword and magic. Not long ago I started a rather ambitious map of the whole continent with the help of the aforementioned other author.
Three of my stories are playing in this world (and one might be rumored to be connected) and for this reason, I linked them in the description.
Slime Girl, Formicea, and Arachne are the titles (all of them are going relatively well). Now I allowed that other one to use my world (rights still reserved but he's got my consent for this). Since I really like what he produced so far I'd find it just appropriate if I could link their story as well by using the shared universe link if they ever finish it and decide to post it.

It wouldn't get copyrighted if both of the authors agreed to write together. Copyright only works if another author strikes another novel and place some evidence to forcedly remove that novel

Nah, I just mean, I'm not sure if there isn't already an online world by that name. But it's totally unimportant for the request itself.
It basically only revolves around this:
I want to be able to post a shared universe link to another author's story on the main page, as I can with my own stories.

I may be wrong, as i'm not a copyright lawyer, however... I believe a copyright must be more than 2 letters long. now, if it were a world called Ea that held world tournaments called NBA2k##, or NHL '## or whatever, then that would definitely be crossing a line. but simply Ea itself shouldn't really be copywritten, as long as you can show that your world is different from existing worlds by the same name, which wouldn't be all that hard.

trademark is where you get into short words/names/etc, but the thing with TM is that it also counts for stylization. so Ea wouldn't be trademarked, but EA could be.

point is, longer titles air more towards copyright and shorter titles air more towards trademark. both CAN be a minefield to navigate, but some basic common sense (like googling) can go a long way to ensure you're in the clear. by which i mean, if someone does strike your world for copyright, then if you can prove that a google search for "Ea" doesn't show any related results on the first, second, third, page you should be in the clear. then you'd only have EA to deal with regarding trademark, but for that? it wasn't stylized as theirs is.
