Originally, boredom. Then, character, and then everything else at the same time.
Is the boredom an element of the story, an emotion that first started the story/is a centerpiece of the story? Or do you mean boredom as an outside impetus?

Boredom placed the character in the void, and from it, the antagonist was born, then sentences flowed, creating a chapter

Ok. So character was the first part of the story. I see! Wonderful!
If I write porn, characters first. :3

To quote the bible John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

So... uhm... is this a convoluted way of saying that they all happened at the same time?
I am confwoosed.:blob_frown:

I think of a general idea for a story, but I am a discovery writer. The characters and plot come first. I found many people can tolerate a poor world if the characters and plot are engaging. Getting into world building is cool, but you can end up thinking about things that do not make sense for the characters or the plot. If you are writing a fantasy romance that has very little focus on the world, it won't make sense to delve into every aspect of world building. The thing that should always come first in my opinion is the story/characters (especially the characters). There are many stories with great characters, but an average story that people still find interesting because of the characters.

You came first.

Born into this world screaming and covered in someone else's blood, you realized the fun did not have to stop there. You clawed at the limits of your senses, put together cause and effect, established object permanence, then experimented in the act of influencing the world. You imposed your will upon reality in an act of defiance of the natural order.

Your ego grew.

Stonger, bolder, you moved from your will upon the world to your will upon your own thoughts. You, knowingly, or unknowingly, became a pilot of your own mind, programing your mind to have many automatic reactions to things. So many preprogramed things that you forgot what you created and what was imposed upon you by objective reality.

Then one day, you learned how to lie.

You created lies that are not what you believe to be objective reality, but the reality as you wish it to be. You then imagined lies about others. Other people, other worlds, other ways of seeing or being or doing.

You call this a story.

Does the story start with the character or the world the character exists in? Neither. It started long ago in a kernal of truth that you abhored and hated. You sough control over this truth, but you could not impose your will, so instead you created a lie in your mind where the truth was different, and this fabrication was enough.

All the characters are already there.
All the worlds are already there.

Your story doesn't begin with a character or a world.

It begins with a lie.

God made the stars, you not knowing that is concerning.
*giggles* The liar is simply Divine, thus He gets capitalization that make him the Holy Liar. The Stars existed prior despite the preaching of his proxies. They dream sparklingly under the sanguine nothing that they weep out into the ocean of sanguine nothing. A-wheeee and a-whiiiooooommm... All is lies on a spectrum of beauty, and yours is ugly.

Idol worship is not good. Stop doing it if you want to save your... soul.
Now I see the problem. I'm sorry for bringing up such an insensitive subject to you.

Don't worry. It's just fun to pretend to worship an idol. I'm just interested to how to make complex idolatry in stories, so you guys get the cuckoo cultist philosophy kinda... I guess... shoved in your faces? It's practice for a later story I have planned, and great fun too!

Didn't expect you to drop the act like that. The monster racism I do is actually practice for my story too.

LOL! I was worried that you actually found it concerning, so I'd thought I'd alleviate your worries! A lot of people where I live would start immediately trying to convince me that I was going straight to hell (even with clarification that it was pretend) and they would struggle interacting with me because they are worried for my soul.

The One True God has created Demiurge who then made the stars, you saying God made the stars is like saying that Bezos earned his billions with his hard work.
As a progressive witch I support the labourers' rights to their own products of labour
