I am tired.

Probably because I am fat and sickly, but I am suddenly sick of "Wizard: Starting With the Knights Breathing Method".

I jokingly called it a better version of The Runesmith because MC, random CN here, has more action and possibly bigger balls than Roland for the reason because it is a CN wish fulfilment.

But as I am typing this, I am forced to understand that the hype train can no longer fluff me anymore.

Sure, I hate Roland for his wishy washy attitude and how much of a bloody cartoon ostrich from time to time (RL ostrich are murderers), but when he starts to fuck shit up in the Necromancer Raid, having a chase scene in the Pirate Bay and wiping the floor with the bastard knight commander and killing his dogs, I love it. The ride towards there however, I despise it.

So that is why I always sticked with Wizard, until I start to hate it so much now with the CN motherfucker collecting different powersets like STDs. The author did stated that this is to broaden the power level of MC, so that he can fuck others who are at higher levels than him, but at this point the dude has more illegitimate family in Mexico and South East Asia than the common white dude in San Francisco.

Also, the guy always wins. I get that all MCs will win eventually but Wizard's MC makes it look effortless and it grates me. Sure, similar to how Roland is a fucking munchkin hax with a job of higher rarity, MC in Wizard is the same kind of asshole but further when he is an all rounder fuckhead with a Zerg Rush option and Stealth like that guy from Everyone Else is a Returnee.

Anyway, what is your pick?
1. All highs.
2. Most lows with little highs

I'd prefer few highs, but those few are worth it.

Tbh I also hate the mc that always wins. My favorite novel (hiatus, atm) is Reverend Insanity. Don't argue about it's bad or good points, favorite novel is about taste. Anyhow, Fang Yuan (MC of RI) doesn't always win. Even if he does win, it is almost always a tradeoff where he sacrificed something in exchange for something else. As Fang Yuan said, 'The victory or loss of a battle is not important. The important thing is the benefit behind them.' He followed this ideal to the very last moment of the very end.

Also, one thing needs to be emphasize, the buildup of RI (the lows) is a lot, the pace is rather slow but when the high arrives, it was better than sex (not that I know).

Hmm. Not sure. I need to think about for a while.
I don't mind either of the two options. So neither are super irritating. If I do have a moment of disliking either, it is because I just read a bunch of that type of story.

However, I do think I get bored faster reading multiple "Boring Lows with Highs worth little/ not worth" stories in a row, than just highs.

It depends on my mood, but usually I prefer it when the author takes time to flesh out the actual story and settings and characters so that I can care if there are highs or lows first.

Like in the novel on NU called mob protagonist where the story is all highs - but because it's so well-fleshed out I really don't care.
Or there was a novel that I can't remember the name of but it had most lows with you fucking knowing that the occasional high that is put there is there to set up for the inevitable low - and I couldn't put it down! It was just so interesting!

Basically, as long as the story doesn't feel like it was written by two 6 year olds (M, my character has the infinite super amazing move that deals an infinity of damage! Well mine has a super duper great move that deals ten million infinities of damange!), or that the world actively bends over backwards to fit the author's whims; as long as the story feels like the author made the world as a priority and fit the story around it - then it can be a good story.

Reverend Insanity is axed.

Rumor had Douluo Dalu author and his fanbase flaming. But the real cause is that CCP wants to dumb down the reader base by promoting "positivity".

So yes, those who read CN are stupid.

Too much High is boring you know. Repetitive storyline is what kills the joy of reading the story.

If every moment is high, it will become a flat graph like this :

1688903987363.jpg

At first the high moment is Fun and interesting, but it's started to get bring after repeated occurrence. And finally The value of high moment will become reduced to nothing as it's the "new normal".

I prefer story with lots of Low that have high sometimes, but the low moment must be up to standard and not just shit writing.

Even story with lots of high moment need to step down from time to time to show the result, conclusions, and aftereffects/aftermath of those high moments. Maybe even new path of development if possible.

when it comes to all highs, it automatically makes me think of a story that has to end with the most heart-breaking, the saddest and the most depressed failure.
if the author is talented enough to create an illusion of victory and happiness throughout the whole story, to make it look like the mc is strong and can never lose, the end must prove otherwise and leave the readers with a tragedy they will have to recover from for weeks.
when everything goes too well for a character, there should be a catch to it, they have to pay for it, otherwise it just reminds me of a mary sue kind of story

Last I heard it wasn't axed, but prohibited for review. Then, it was all-clear by the ccp, but the author wanted to finish his current story before going back to RI, don't know if that is true or not.

I prefer where the MC gets laid and not a bait and switch type of chapter where the heroine dresses up and the MC is like she hasnt seen a woman naked before...

I prefer very few highs because they're more impactful when rare. That being said my MC doesn't stop winning because every time he loses he gets punished greatly for it.
Huh. You know I'm not sure if my MCs have ever really "won."

Because it seems like even when they do, their actions fuck them over royally just a chapter or two later. I mean I guess it would help if they stopped being reckless, self destructive cunts who think with their cock. But then where's the fun?

Aside from the lust that is exactly how my MC screws himself over, by being reckless and self-destructive.

Eww, I hope it doesn't end up going like last boss where the MC gets so powerful they can summon a sword so giant that it can cut the planet in half.

Is there even such a cheesy novel end or are you talking about one of those Final Fantasy endings?
