Bugs A number of recent reviews are staying at no stars

The reviews contain criticism sure, and they may even be a bit harsh at times if it was deserved but they’re valid and honest reviews and they don’t critique or insult for the sake of it. They do show up publicly but the ratings stay missing. There’s no feedback or reason given why or obvious way for me to fix it.

Whatever this problem is seems to be new and kinda invalidates the rating system. If there is some reason why rating isn’t working or a way to fix it then the user needs an active message telling them why or there is simply no point to having a rating in the first place.

Frankly I like the rating system and I like when someone else has poison tested a bad novel so I don’t have to either waste my time or get worked up over something especially depressing that the author wasn’t up front about. And I like when I can be the poison tester for the next unfortunate reader in such cases as well.

Furthermore just being able to sort stories by ratings and having that actually be meaningful rather that useless like on sites like webnovel or many other sites with completely fake ratings where you never see a novel under 4 stars is a great feature and an asset that I don’t want to lose.

I'm completely throwing gunk at the wall in the hopes that something will stick here, but... Are you sure the reviews in question had a rating in the first place? I believe it's possible to give a review without attaching a rating to it.

They may have since the rating keeps resetting to nothing, but I’ve tried repeatedly to give them a rating by editing them since and it hasn’t worked.

Ah, I see, I misunderstood.

If you want to give a rating to a story, you have to be logged in and put it on your reading list. Otherwise the site won't save your rating.

I am logged in, and it was on my reading list though I’ve since moved it to the dropped reading list.

Hm. Again, I don't know this for certain, but maybe the author contested your review, and it needs admin approval before it can get its rating back? Alternatively, if you keep editing it, it may need to be verified by an admin each time to make sure you aren't doing anything nefarious.

I suppose we'll need to wait for someone more experienced with reviews to know for certain.

Resolved - reviews not showing publicly

I have 3 reviews on my profile but none have been posted publicly What's going on? Even though a bit eccentric, they are serious & genuine "review"s

Do you get any errors? If it's staying at 'no stars' then you're either on a VPN or you don't have the series in your reading list. It should tell you the error though.

I don’t have a VPN on my phone, I do have an adblock but that’s it. And there’s no warnings or errors as far as I can tell.

Essentially I’ll edit the review, change the rating from nothing to something (from no visible stars to 2 in this case), submit the changes which seem to stick, but if I leave the page the rating will be gone when I return. Similarly the rating stays as no stars in my review list.

Yes, though it’s in a “dropped” reading list at the moment. Whether it’s in the normal reading list or the dropped one doesn’t seem to change anything.

I'm not sure at this time as I can't recreate the issue on my side. Which series were you trying to rate? and what rating were you trying to give it?
