Serious question here, even if I am slightly irked this keeps cropping up.
(Please note this happens on RR mostly, but as I crosspost on both sites, i feel I'll post here for a change)
So like... I'm writing a story that contains harem, right? I know how divisive that is, and why people rightly don't like it. So I... like tag the story Harem clearly, I make it very clear in the blurb that it's harem. Then I still get people complaining that it's harem, like they are surprised lol, saying 'I hate harems'.
I mean, I've had someone now effectively tell me as a person I don't understand love, just because I write a harem story, which stings a little lol. That's like saying if i wrote a dark anti-hero character I'm siding with evil...
So seriously. There are some things I'm not keen on. NTR for example. So i wouldn't read a story that was prominently labelled as NTR in the first place, except in exceptional circumstances, and if i did (say i was recommended it as 'just so awesome you have to read it anyway' I sure as hell wouldn't complain about the presence of the NTR I know is in there, because that's the point of it.
Ugh, seriously, I know it doesn't really matter, it's just some critisism, but... like, it's mad frustrating. there's plenty of other stuff to crisitise in my story, like it's absurdly glacial pace lol. But why express disdain for a key story element you knew would be there. Unless you didn't read the tags/blurb, but then who reads 100+ chapters of a story they never read the synopsis for. I don't get that either lol!
Anyway, rant over, i feel better now *wink*
But as both a writer and a reader on both sites, It just strikes me as odd. Unless people are doing it to mess with me... I suppose that might be possible lol.
