I figured it might be a troll. I was just a bit disappointed because 1 star on the first chapter of my story I'm sure discouraged new readers. I have a 4 star rating now though

I'm sure some of us have those reviews that rate our stories pretty badly. Sometimes its bullshit but others actually make a good point about what it's lacking in.
I've seen some stories with <4, and there's some written reviews saying it's because of the story going downhill, a shitty plot twist, or it was just shit to begin with.
How do you authors with these kinds of reviews feel about it?
Also I'm waiting for a certain someone to show their glorious 1* reviews.
I have one, it's not on this account but the rating is borderline 3*. It's made to be shit and I'm damn proud of how badly it crashed and burned. Gave me hope in the future generation.
See, I've encountered readers who like my story to have sex early on. There are cases where I got trashtalked just because my MC is perceived as 'beta' and 'spineless'.
But here's the thing, I planned my story before writing it, so I know where I would take its direction. If the reader decided to drop it because he didn't like the chapters, so be it. I got my own plans.
Of course it's different if you write to be famous, or be compensated financially for your work. You really need to please a lot of readers if that's the case.
But, if you're content of writing what you want, then by all means, do it. The world of Literature won' t be interesting if all stories follow the same formula.

You can post EN content on Narou? Huh, maybe I should try my luck too (and maybe get bashed for it lol)
On topic, if they have a point, I'll take it to heart (but then again, those kind of comments are reasonable in tone, so it's all good).
If they seem to be mistaken/confused about something, I'll try to explain it (and make a reminder for myself to write better/clearer).
As for the special cases, though... I dunno how to react to the "why guy A (or B) doesn't have a harem/bang every girl!? ffffffff" comments; I mean, I never tagged my work as harem or something...

But I do understand everyone has different tastes. There’s no right or wrong, nor is there any rules. It’s either you like it or you don’t, simple as that.
Kind of like Wattpad in JPN. A smorgasbord of genres and stories of repeated formula and elements, but with occasional gems, like Mushoku Tensei, Log Horizon, etc.
You'll have to use Google Translate to navigate around the site.
I deserve my rating of 3,6. Do I think it's a low rating? No. Do I think I deserve it? Actually, I think it should be lower. Why? Because it's my first novel, and I've bitten far more than I can chew. I couldn't deliver what I envisioned, and I feel that the quality is lackluster. A lot of those 1-stars aren't exactly personal preference ratings. It's me failing to write a good story and stopping them.
Btw, do I need to show my reviews? I can show one that made me giggle.

Well here's some good news for you, Scribblehub basically only rates things between 3&5(unless your special like @K5Rakitan ) , so your 3.6 is significantly lower than the average around here ?

It stings at first but that's life. I think this current generation is having a hard time dealing with negative feedback. But negative feedback is a natural aspect of life and learning. Without knowing what we do poorly, we cannot improve to our full potential. So yeah, it stinks to be told your story is bad, but anyone who truly likes to write will cry their tears then get back up and try again. And they'll be better for it.
