I just started writing my first novel in webnovel. And from there a editor from a website called goodnovel offered me for a contract. So he said my book has potential and told me to submit it in there website and request for contract. And within 1 to 2 weeks I actually got an agreement paper which just need my signature. But the terms and conditions feel like it mostly contain their interest. And I am not sure if this goodnovel is really legit. I heard scribblehub has a frndly community so I came here to seek some guidance from the people who already have experience. I would highly appreciate if I can get some reply fast as I need to reply to the editor from gdnovel.

There was a similar thread not so long ago. If you don't want a long answer, then the answer is no. I'm not sure about goodnovel, but I heard it's pretty much the same as webnovel. Sites like webnovel offer contracts to literally everyone. These sites don't think your novel has potential as they send this phrase to everyone.
Edit. I meant don't sign the contract.

Seconded, I got a few offers from goodnovel, catnovel, webnovel, and a few more. Essentially all contracts are the same, they hold their best interest but not yours, and the message about potential is something they copy paste to everyone. So before you jump into a contract be sure to read the terms and conditions thoroughly.

Actually it's not true in the case of Web novel since it's not that easy to get an exclusive contract offer from them. Also they don't email but instead send it through their system so it's probably a scam rather than the real site

I've got the same sort of offer from them. Both good novel and web novel. If a site is giving it out to everyone. They are rarely legit. Especiially when Webnovel and good novel has a reputation of keeping the rights of your story, paying you very little for it and then you can't make additional content because you no longer own the rights. Good novel Im not 100% sure of, but if everyone and thier grandma is getting offers from them, they do not have your best interests

They are shady, stealing bastards.

Yes, they do send through their own system. Doesn't change the fact that they offer contracts to everyone.

I've too gotten these contracts. I've posted my story in numerous sites and got like 2 offers, and one of them was from Goodnovel. Another one was from another site but I can't recall what it was at this time. My experience actually starts with this app called Kongfu Books, which I'm am writing for currently and they have offered me an exclusive contract. I accepted it and they do pay. It wasn't much, like a $170 bucks. That was either because I finished the novel or ad revenue. But considering some of their best books have millions of reads, you need to work long and hard to get some good money. Some reported that they get like $1000, but I'm sure they've been there for a while.

As for the people sending you contracts, these are most likely editors, aka, people who signed up for that role. They are not employees, just sub-contractors. Even I can become an editor and do the same thing. Heck, my editor actually encouraged me to sign up and look for talent. I don't know what the pay for that is, but it can't be as much as how much I made with my previous book.

So this editor for Goodnovel, they offered me a contract, but I could not find anything about pay in the ToS. I decided to ask how much of the ad revenue I was going to get. They simply answered they would promote the story and that's it. In other words, no money. I declined.

So I don't think it's a scam but not worth it either unless you get like millions of readers.

If you ask me my answer for you, you should accept the contract from webnovel if you writing a martial arts book or a magic book and if you don't care about the copyright.

1st you will get MGS total of 800$ for 4 month. per month 200$.

It's not like they are paying you . It's more like they will give you this money to encourage you.

2nd you will get much more readers. Webnovel don't work like page views or add money. It's more like a place where readers pay you to read your story.

If your story is good enough you will get some features in their website.

Well sorry , Every book got featured but if you're book good you will get more feature.

How much can you earn?

Well it's depands on the readers. Those who are in top 100 rank's they earn minimum 2k.

And there is many of different rank's.

You forgot to add that you must self-promote write at least one 2 thousand word chapter a DAY, your revenue tied to how much people used PAID passes. You will as well, lose rights to your own novel. You won't get ANY help if not being bullied by those above you. Oh, you also compete not only with originals but with translations as well. Sooo, yeah. Either you cater to the readers at the maximum of your capabilities and spend all your time writing, or you don't earn shit. Also, the novels that are being high-ranked on webnovel aren't particularly 'good'. A few stories that are on webnovel have a much lower rating here. Because on webnovel reader-base is casual and has clear-cut preferences. It's no about how good the novel is, it's about how much you cater to those "much more readers".

In webnovel there is 3 type of readers romance / fantasy / urban.

Now it's up to a writer what they wish to do with their book .

They can self publish and slowly build up their fan base it may take 1 to 2 years or even less.

Or they can just write in webnovel and in Less time make a big fan base and slowly he move to patreon and other way.

And yes you have upload 2k chapter daily. Writing 2k chapter only take 1 hours at least for me.

And about the copyright. I'll only say this , only those who don't care about copyright should join webnovel.

I'll love to add another thing. If you have good English you will become successful there it doesn't matter if you have to compete with others.

New novel have different ranking system and given more features than the old one. This way new novel become famous.

It doesn't seem like scam. But the contract isn't also seem appealing to me either.

Well they said there was 2 types of contract and one is non exclusive where I get to keep the right. So I thought why not give it a try. But some of the terms in the agreement paper doesn't seem appealing to me. Like there was a condition I had to offer my future work to them first. And also if any of the terms are breached I had to pay 3 times. Like hell I am just a student and writing for fun. I don't mind getting into contract as long as I keep the right and I don't really care how much money I make. Even if it's little it's just a extra cash for me. So the pay 3 times feel like a burden to me.

This more and more sounds like a shill than anything else.

Especially the part "you will be successful here" part which is BOLD statement. Not even the highest publisher can nor will guarantee that.

Especially suspicious when this seems to be your first few comments..

And the "if you don't care about copy right" reads to me. Very unconfident, very young writers who don't believe their idea can sell so they take advantage and reap all the money and popularty gained whilst now the writer owns nothing. Meaning they could have gone else where and had thier work sold via marketing, and self publishing and probably earn alot more cash.

This seems like your advertising the author version of a get internet famous quick scheme in the form of a platform, instead of the best way. Keep your rights and build your audience.

So webnovel doesn't have any contract where I get to keep my right? Damn I don't want to hand over my right.

Tell them you need some time to think about it, look for better offers, and submit your story to a few small presses.
Small presses? Like where? I don't know much about this stuff. I am just writing for fun. Like I got a idea, why not write it down? That's how I started. So I don't know a shit.

So should I decline it or not? They said I can get contracts from others also if I choose non exclusive as I get to keep the right. But the price should be same or something like that.
