Favs:

1. Being OP
   • I like curb-stomping plots. I'm a simple guy.
2. Faithful love interest(s)
   • Anything with NTR or just adjacent to that lands in the trash.
3. Simple hero's journey
   • I don't need any complex plot to enjoy something. Sometimes, simple evil for being evil is good enough.
4. A bit of humor
   • Serious plots need some loose moments.
5. Face slapping
   • I like vindication.

What I hate:

1. Hiding true identity/ability
   • Utter trash trope. Instantly in the bin.
2. Love interest disappears/kidnapped/phone home
   • Fuck that. Trash and cheap bullshit.
3. Being preachy about morals and ideal worldviews
   • I don't need to be told what to think, thank you very much.
4. Hidden realms suddenly revealed, resetting the plot and tropes, aka starting over in the middle of a story
   • No. Just no. It invalidates the MC's achievements and work. Lazy fucking writing. Fuck off.
5. Rushed/bad endings
   • Lame. It makes the whole book feel like trash and my time robbed from me.

Mine are a bit Xianxia-specific, since that's mostly what I've been reading in recent years.

Least favorite tropes:

1) Evil has no consequences, but good acts will always be punished.
2) The world is dark and cruel to the point of absurdity and impossibility.
3) MC is the least important person in the world who nobody should ever care about, but is still always the target of everyone's attention.
4) Everything always happens at the last possible second.
5) Every woman MC meets falls in love with MC instantly, but the women all somehow managed to remain virgins for up to millions of years before they met MC.

Only five, really? But I hate so much more!

Favorite tropes:

1) MC is a genius who makes all other characters look like idiots.
2) MC is born in the boonies where the highest cultivation level is Body Refining Tier 3, but slowly climbs their way up to the part of the world where people actually know how cultivation works.
3) MC has a cute animal companion that grows alongside them.
4) MC finds/inherits a random god-tier item that helps them on their cultivation journey. Bonus points if the item also has an artifact spirit/grandpa's soul/etc.
5) MC's best friend at the start is an extremely fat guy named Fatty [x].
