1st is hard to do well and 3rd has long been the industry standard so it's not your fault for being used to it. That said there are really good 1st person pov works out there and you ought to give them a try if only for the adventure they promise. For example, the hunger games is famously 1st person and so is Red Rising. Keep an open mind.

Imo first person is easier to do for new writers. Third person is definetly better in some scenarios. Like when you want to focus on multiple things. First POV is better if you want to live in the mind of your mc, which some authors want you to do(me)
That's why i want to get used to 1st pov...most new authors write in this pov and i want to overcome this handle it painfully making me miss on good reads

Both are good, and both have their pros and cons. As someone who wrote 3rd person first and then tried out 1st person, I think the latter needs more attention to do right. I think it needs the approach of taking it as if the MC is retelling a story to the reader, something that happened a long time ago.

If it can't capture the reader's attention, then I think it is a case of a bad storyteller who can't engage the one for whom he tells the story. Simple as that.

I agree...i tried a few 1 pov and noticed if you can't capture the readers attention or let them immerse into the mc they will always have a block when reading 1 pov

1st pov is to me the best pov, there are cases where 2st and 3rd pov are better but for emotional connections the 1st pov is the best pov. But I definitely see the reason to believe otherwise as valid.

Any POV should be delivered nicely with their respective traits. You, the author, should be like that one kid in the school who can't stop blabbering stories out of their mouth.

Like what Corty said, you're telling the readers a tale, whether if it's a personal experience or someone else's. I have a few examples that you can look for:

-There should be one of your friends who has the ability to turn a short, 'getting stalked' experience into an entire horror episode of Jason Voorhes.

-Ooh, I personally love this one whenever I see him. Meet The Narrator, the narrator of a guy named Stanley. Look for The Stanley Parable, The Narrator breaks the fourth wall and somehow managed to execute it perfectly, making him receive lots of support across the internet.
