Alright, back at things in full! I have a lot of videos setup now since I refined my workflow and am able to just relax and make smaller things quicker and so on. Can thank short stories for one of these reasons. They're surprisingly great for handling burnout, as I mention in another video I'll finish today. Going to be obsessed with short story related stuff for... most of April, probably? Then serials. And whatever else I just feel like or am asked about.

Anyway, hopefully this can help you out and start of a bunch I have coming, including just really short videos since I put together this whole new aesthetic.

the web-novel model, it worships and rewards...
---as many words as possible
---as many released chapters as possible
---the never ending story

in the end, you want an open ended premise... short chapters... chapters with no end

and yes,a good short story can be very powerful and rewarding.
the necklace by Maupessant, the quiet man by... whoever did that one.
the original christmas gifts story, whoever did that famous one.

its gotten to the point now, that an 80k novel, standard novel length...
is "barely enough" to get people to start reading it. because what if you "drop it".
you can mark it completed? most won't touch it.

where are short stories respected at, where;s this magical place.

but yes, I believe a 5k, 10k, 20k good short story?
teaches one how to make a good chapter.
and I wish the "novella" would make a comeback.
8 hours, done, binged and you get to "grok" the whole story at one sitting.

This is your best video yet.
Very good advice.
Hope you dig the new format! ...Going to make the slides bigger, I wasn't sure on those.
I love short stories, they’re how I started out with writing.
A decade ago.
…Before taking a decade-long break from writing.
The fun thing about short stories is that they can EASILY break that decade-long break...

I actually plan to tackle this factor because I maintain that short stories are still useful even to those who are doing serials and so on. There is A LOT I can say about the serial model (and will!), but still, it's ultimately a collection of smaller stories.
