What seems cliche in stories, but is actually relatable to you in life?

Can be something related to others in your life as well. Saw a nuf thread and wanna do something similar on here too.

Theres a lot of cliche stories where fl is dense and clumsy and the guy is black belly and does everything for fl and saves the fl a lot.

For while thought those a lot of these stories not realistic. People irl aren't that dense right?

But then when me and my sibling think about it...our prts fit that type of cliche see in some novels in a way. Where fl is a bit dense and ml always come save day. And no one dares messes ml.

I knew a person who never got fat no matter how much they ate, that one low-key is in pretty much every story. Airheads are quite common. It's just that they aren't sexy anime girls with nice personalities but sloppy people who mostly are mean. Teachers who are mean on the outside but very caring in fact, are not uncommon.
Oh, another one is that there's always the cutest girl/hottest boy in class. Just by virtue of ordering them by such characteristics.
Very smart people. Rare, very rare, but they do exist. Never seen someone who could get a PhD at 13 but it's not that hard to find young people who speak 10 languages and can play several instruments. Whether you'll ever meet them is another question however.
Psychopaths and sociopaths are fairly common. Don't wanna lie about statistics, but there's a significant number of them.
Messed up families are everywhere.
Badasses are also everywhere, just most don't do badass things on a daily basis. Like that guy who climbed the wall of a high-rise building to get his mom out, I saw on the news. That's some badass, no?
Popular people. Needless to say, they're everywhere.
Rivalry between childhood friends - never seen in person but it wouldn't be surprising if I just didn't notice

I am pretty sure I am that dense. But well, cliche, huh.
Hardworking people, I would say. Since I am pretty lazy myself, whenever I see someone working hard, I am like,
Huh, its real?

Awkwardness? It's basically cringe in stories(Still usable, but you know), but so relatable for the "Real World".

The hapless romance protagonist who cannot seem to understand that everyone else is coming onto them.

That's actually me irl. I've had so many people tell me they were into me now that I'm in a committed relationship, it blows my mind. And they keep being like 'I was flirting, you just didn't seem interested.'

To which I always reply "B**** I'm autistic, I struggle with subtle cues and 'beating around the bush. Come out and tell me things directly."

It's honestly their loss, they probably couldn't have made me as happy as I am now. :blob_nom:

A lot of people like to complain about forced diversity in stories but it's even more unrealistic that an entire world is only made up of cis-gendered, heterosexual white people.

Are you bragging?! ARE YOU BRAGGING?! Bastard! Or Bastardess!
I'm not jelly YOU ARE JELLY damn all of you! We all know what shall happen with the normies.

Totally not jelly alpha-chad-snek.

But totally seriously, I did have people tell me this stuff after a few years, and I'm suspicious, that it was more of a "I thought you were cool!" rather than "I would date you if you asked!". Especially if you are attractive/cool present day, it might color their memory.

Yeah, but its also funny (I like it, but still) how most yuri stories seem to happen in a world that is on the edge of collapse due to unsustainable population, as all people in it are either old men, or yuri girls.

I mean here's the thing about the dense protagonist.

In the case of the dense protagonist, we know that the love interest is actually in love with said person.

In the case of our lives, we've encountered time after time where we think someone is in love with us, only to be disappointed when we find out that that couldn't be further from the truth.

Eventually we get to the point where we are purposefully dense because we don't want to disappoint ourselves with the cold reality.

And most of the time, that "Denseness" in refusing to believe that anyone could possibly fall in love with us, is actually right. Is it really being dense if the person actually isn't in love with you? The only reason we see people as dense is because we already know the feelings of the other character. But in real life, you can't just know such a thing.

Am I bragging? ...maybe :blob_uwu:

also I did not know that bastard could be gendered. :blobrofl::blobrofl:

That’s gonna be me from now on “Cosette the Ferret Bastardess”

also all of my worlds allow magic-based impregnation... so men aren’t needed at all for the population to increase / be maintained

Only boy in an all-girl school is a bit drastic, but I was once the only boy in a class before. It was choir though, so not like a regular academic class.

I'll take 200 for things where one clearly happens way more often than the other.
