Science fiction and Fantasy are our baseline. Either one or a mix of both. We love all sorts of other genres mixed in.
For ScribbleHub specifically, we find we want to read stories written by trans women and girls who want to explore wish fulfillment fantasies, and go for the superhero angle on that. And of the main genres listed, Gender Bender is the one that tends to lead to those stories. It's not what most other people use Gender Bender for, and definitely only one dimension of exploring it. And, it's not so much exploring it as using it as a source of joy and euphoria for the MC with the opportunity for some goofy or tricky complications.
As a gender fluid trans feminine enby 10 years into transition ourselves, we've already practically explored gender bending in the real world to an extreme. So, to us, it's for finding a relatable MC, sympathizing with her, cheering her on, and visualizing what it's like to be her. Superhero stuff, basically, with representation for us.
But, like, Gender Bender as psychological horror? We would like to see that well done, and might be ready to write it ourselves one day.
It's the other side of the coin that we experienced for the first half of our life. Dysphoria.
