What are your favorite genres? Why do you think they grip you so much? And what would your ideal story consist of?

Fantasy Romance, cause I don't like reality.
My ideal story would be:
  • Ruthless Mc who'll destroy anyone getting in his way.
  • Loveable heroines who aren't always jealous and is aggressive.
  • Mc isn't a pushover.

Mystery, Romance, Adventure and Sci-Fi tend to be my go to genres, though when I'm on this site I tend to exclusively browse Harem unless I'm feeling adventurous or was given a recommendation.

I just like feelings of curiosity and wanderlust, and those four genres tend to give me those emotional hits I'm looking for. Sci-Fi in particular has a general aesthetic I vibe with, like with Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell.

I have a love-hate relationship with Gender Bender. On one hand, I keep it on because I'm hoping for something like Ranma 1/2, Birdy The Mighty or Kampfer, where both genders actually play a role, but I usually end up seeing half-assed gender flips where the character should've just been a woman to begin with. Ain't nothing wrong with a normal girl getting Isekai'd, if Inuyasha is any indicator.

Can't say I have an ideal story, but I won't say no to more stories I'd personally enjoy, lol.
