The Legendsung—a legend relived through songs—has truly captivated me, let alone brought tears to my eyes. A story told with clarity and brilliance, one that felt humane and romantic. I introduce Utarerumono: Mask of Deception, a story about Haku and his misadventures that lead to the discovery of his amnesiac state and the meaning of his existence. But, calling, this is without a doubt my number one JRPG story-driven game, which I proudly present as I puff my chest!

Ahem—first and foremost, the "Gameplay"—I can definitely see a huge improvement over the course of what could be called a now important series of quick events, but an unfortunate farewell to the "Positional Attack" feature—or the if you attack from the side or back, the damage increases—one. And, without a doubt, the dialogues during each battle created a massive immersion, and the BP has undergone massive changes to fit right through the battle... No more leaking BP, people. Aside from that, there is the introduction of "Hidden Quick Events" and "Changing Positionary Attack," which you will discover by playing the game.

Of course, with all of the changes, you might have thought, "Oh, strategy finally matters." Well, yes, but also, no. While you can no longer brute force the game, simply playing as an AI is sufficient to fight through the hordes of different battles. Although what matters is that the gameplay is likable at best and completely and even more different than the first!

Finally, despite being the shortest of the Utawarerumono series, the story provided ample introduction to all of the characters as well as lengthy side events that were necessary to their development. While there are some similarities between the plots in Prelude of the Fallen, everything takes a different and compelling turn. I can't say much more, but as I mentioned in my previous review, Utawarerumono's story transcends expectations and provides a sight that is relentless in terms of energy and emotion. And as for the soundtrack, you know how much I adore it! I listen to it while doing my work... It's calming, brave, and inspiring.

For the Mask of Truth, I'll discuss the additional enhancements made to increase immersion and the overall quality of the game. Now, as we progress through the Mask of Deception, we may become confused by some new features and lose sight of some tactics that can be used to turn the tide of the battle. Don't worry, the "Training" system has been added to remind you of your brilliant abilities and how you can definitely improve your skills throughout the battle. Although not strictly necessary, it does assist you in understanding the fundamentals.

They also included the "Friendly Match," which is fantastic! It is a system in which your party is divided into two and who you use to fight and who you fight is chosen at random. Not only that, but it gives EXP and, if you win, you can get BPs... But, if you want to have fun beating your party, go ahead and try it.

Second, there is the introduction of the "Coop Attack" which features two characters—if in the range of the enemy and attained overzeal—attack the enemy. This is basically the strongest attack you can use in the game and following it up with "Coop Special", you can find out unique dialogues and cool animations.

I haven't recorded the final boss for each three yet since I am busy editing Bravely Default 2's videos and it may take longer to update them, I am sorry to inconvenience you and will surely make sure I upload them post-haste... prolly if I can.
THANK YOU FOR READING!
