Someone messaged me on archiveofourown that they wanted to turn my book into a comic. Is it a scam?
My book is a literary fiction. Little action, character driven, lots of inner monologues and reflections. Slow-burn. And around 800-900 pages.
Admittedly I can't remember when I held a comic book in my hand. So I wouldn't know what works and what does not for comics.
I smell something fishy.
Do I trust my instinct here?
Please advise a rookie.

Pretty sure as long as you keep paying hundreds of bucks, he will keep creating pages for you...

probably using AI. However, as you are pretty well acquainted with AI yourself, you could do it on your own and pay nothing. So it's best to block these guys instantly. Honestly, to get your work turned into a comic, you'd need tens of thousands of readers or do/commission it on your own.

I'm afraid I wouldn't have a clue how to start it. My nephew created my profile pic from a photo. So my contribution to the "artwork" was providing my face. Haha
He offered to create the artwork for the cover page, too, but then I found a decent photo in my album that captures the feeling of the book I uploaded here.
Anyway, the point here is that I do not need this kind of service anyway. My books are not suitable for comics. Full stop.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Yes, report them if it gets them banned. Ignore them if nobody cares.
