It'd be nice if we had the option to close or delete the threads we make in the forum in case they get dragged off topic or if drama breaks out and we don't feel like dealing with it.

I can see why one would want that. Reporting and asking a mod to lock or delete is how it's done now. If it gets annnoying for you, try 'unwatching' the thread and forget about it.

I don't think people should be able to delete all their own stuff willy nilly, since that is the evidence of one's post history.

I also think it can be a bit sad when I go in to the effort to write some thing and it gets nuked because OP didn't want to see it , instead of me breaking the rules...

Especially sad when I am posting quality memes that are fire.

The software this runs on should let you delete your own posts, at the very least, that's how it works on the other sites this is used on.

This should be possible, and it doesn't harm the functionality of the site, and doesn't affect any other posts.

It shouldn't be used to delete threads as this is the way to take other posts than yours with it.

You can delete your own post.

You can. Just delete the first post and the thread goes bye-bye.

I am almost certain the option hasn't been there before
It has been here since 2010, long before this forum existed. That's an integral part of XenForo.

And where would this option be?

Not in this version, I don't think.

Also in the Novel Update forum (the sister site to this, also xenforo but different version) you can deleting the OP post but it does not delete the thread. It just end up with weird threads there the second post is the first post.

What the fug... I guess it was intentionally disabled. And if that's the case, I doubt it will be re-enabled.

Sorry for speaking before checking it myself.

That's even weirder. Guess Tony had a reason to do so.

You can't delete your own opening post and you can't edit your posts or title after a certain timeframe. Expecially annoying for reference or art threads, though the latter is less relevant.

NUF has the nice spoiler threads everyone can edit to add chapter/arc spoilers. A bit sad that those threads don't exist here, but also good as I can easily imagine people here abusing it for shitposting havoc.
