Table of Contents issue

After saving the sorting in the table of contents editor, pushing "next" in reading mode takes me to the previous chapter, and clicking "previous" goes to the next chapter. Maybe I'm simply sorting it backwards, but it's very confusing since in the editor and table of contents, it would show as descending order instead of ascending order.
Am I just having a moment?
Or is this really not as intuitive as it should be?

Update: I can tell it was something I changed, and have since changed it back.
My point still stands though. In the Table of contents (editor specifically), the chapters list in descending order when they are correct, which to authors would be confusing...
Or maybe it's just me, but it drives me crazy.

It took me two weeks to figure it out on my first story. Second one I've had no problems with though. Maybe it does need to be a bit more intuitive or just have an explanation that is easy to find rather than having to search through threads here?
