Each story will have a blog where the writer can make posts. It will be like statuses, but for a Series rather than a Profile. Also, it would be nice if the text had a longer character limit and had the same rich text features as a Chapter.

This would allow writers to post updates to their stories without including them in the chapter. So if a writer makes a change in some chapter, they can let readers know ahead of time. There would also be a notification setting where followers of a story are notified of new posts.

Seems kinda pointless, you can just put an announcement at the top of your next chapter instead.

Yeah, but if you're doing a weekly schedule, and you want your fans to know the update ASAP, the timings contradict one another. And if you make a chapter just for announcements, it will show as a new chapter on the notifications. The reader will click on it expecting a new chapter, but it will really just be an announcement. There has to be a distinction between the two.

Meh, I personally wouldn't use that feature, but I guess it could be good for some people.

I like this idea actually.

Could I suggest it be a public page on the story, something like this?

This seems like a useful feature since a lot of the stories posted here are under serialised format - in other words, authors are half-writing as they go. There are a lot of threads in the forum about things like "should I rewrite all my early chapters" or "what should I do about this plot point I decided to change?" Authors can use this as a sort of public record of changelogs, like "edited chapters 3-7" or "character/place name changed" or whatever that can be really useful. I know there are some authors who just make a thread on the LCD forum, but this seems better because it gives them more control.

It would also be nice if authors could run polls on the blog. Polls in stories have been a great feature, but if you're catching up on binge reading, I feel like they make things look messier and it kind of breaks the flow of reading. Like you leave off on a cliffhanger in the previous chapter, hit next, and rather than jumping right in, it'll be like a long author's note and a poll.

It would be nice to have story blogs so authors could run these polls and keep the record of them without cluttering their chapters.
