Some questions about linking to wikis and personal websites

What is the policy in this regard? My story is currently on Royal Road (nearing a thousand followers btw!), but I'd like to start posting it here as well once I finish the first book/season.

I have a wiki that's deep in development where you can read about the characters, more deeper lore, etc, and also another site (which is separate from the wiki) which is essentially the official home site of the series. Am I allowed to link to those on the story page or in chapters? The idea is that there are author notes or a space at the bottom of chapters that link to relevant wiki articles (who have spoilers for those who haven't finished reading all the chapters), and ideally I'd like to link to the series home page on the fiction page, though I'd understand if that's not allowed (I'm not selling anything to be clear).

I glanced at the rules but didn't see anything referencing this or maybe I just missed it?

There isn't any specific rules about it. Basically, as long as you don't link to anything illegal, you'll be fine.

There is two other things to note:
  1. You cannot put hyperlinks in the series description. You can put URLs, but they won't be hyperlinks.
  2. You cannot do is post half a chapter and say that they have to go somewhere else to read the other half. You can stub the series and have say that they need to by the book, but you can only post full chapters; no previews.

I believe as long as you don't do the preview chapters as desiribed in the content guidelines you can add links.

Thanks for replying!

The website will have the chapters on them as well, but only after each book is completed e.g. updates are only posted on the site (e.g. scribble, RR, etc.), and the actual website is merely updated all at once with the new chapters when all of them are out. I assume this is ok? The reason for uploading them to the site at all is mostly for 'safety' reasons; if anything were ever to happen to the story pages, the story will still 'exist' on the internet.

"You cannot put hyperlinks in the series description. You can put URLs, but they won't be hyperlinks."

So basically I can put a link but it just can't be clickable? What is the purpose of this rule?

Don't know, but strongly suspect someone posted a malicious link at some point.

Honestly, it's probably something that carried over from Novel Updates, just like the list of genres and most of the tags.
