Tonight was the first night in the past two months in which I actually dreamed. It was a nightmare, and I reported it in the Daily Loss Mega Thread with poor grammar, after going out in the darkness to round up all of my cats.

You know, just to make sure they weren't eaten.

But that got me thinking. Waking up at 3 am means I lose tons of REM sleep. That can't be good for me. It is true, that people still ask me if I am in high school (which is funny, since I am 29 and fat), but that won't last forever.

So, dear Forum users, any tips with which I can stay up to at least 9 p.m. and wake up at 6?

(Because I want to be mistaken for a high schooler for a couple of more years. At least until I turn 50. For that, I need sleep.)

I had, but I bring a pen to sleep and use it like a stick to move chess pieces in my mind (idk how to explain it) and it occupied my thought enough for me to sleep well

Is staying awake till 3am and then sleeping till 12 a sleep problem or indulgence? Not sure, but as a night owl I think I'm still alright on that account.

I read myself to sleep. Takes an hour or two, but it mostly works. Unless the side's in light mode...

I have problems going to sleep, staying asleep, sleeping too long, not sleeping long enough, circulation so my arms and legs go to sleep often before I do, hearing the highway next to my house, hearing my neighbors being inconsiderate assholes at nights,
and on top of all that my dog has stomach problems so I'm HYPER aware of ANY sounds he makes at night in case he needs to potty including but not limited to his particularly stinky farts that also wake me up because of the smell

I'm on my last trimester of being a high schooler. Going to college is tough, and being at college is probably a lot more tough.
Sleep deprivation is my thing.

I can sleep as early as 9PM or 10PM. My only problem is that I would wake up after six hours, and I will never get any extension after that. If I sleep at 9PM, I would wake up 3AM

After I stopped working nights things got easier. I used to get off work at 8am and could never sleep 8 hours during the day with the sun out. It generally translated into the first day off being a lose because I'd only be awake for half a day then go back to sleep to catch up on lost sleep.

I have bad case of insomnia long ago to the point of becoming night owl.
Given an advice to someone here before.

Solution 1 is to adjust.
You sleep at say 2:00am, next day turn that to 1:00am.
Start slow and eventually it will work if you slap(discipline) yourself.
It help with my college as I'm using this method.

Solution 2 is to watch/read something bored.
To the point your eyes get tired, but... remember not to damage your eyes~

Solution 3 is to face it.
You can't sleep? Then just calm down at a comfortable temperature, hug some fluffy pillow then close your eyes "as long as you can" and ignore your thoughts.
It will be hard at first and eventually you will knock out. Head side will hurt but thats how I beat it and so can everyone specially you onee-san~
Fail, fail, succeed, fail, succeed, succeed, succeed, fail, succeed x10 and it will become an ability one can be proud of, altho I haven't reach such state.

One thing to note:
The older one can get, the lesser they need sleep, like waking up early then usual.
Please, don't force yourself and follow what your body needs.
Be careful of oversleeping.

Good luck on your torturous journey~

The problem is that I can't stay up until 9 pm, not that I go to sleep at 3 am.

I take medicine, or else I can't sleep. I have consistently slept between 2200 and 0000 for the past month and a half. I usually wake up between 0500 and 0700, but today, I actually woke up at 0900.

Anyway, I have to take a pill to fall asleep that early, or it won't happen.
